Haha this thread is really funny.Shavers held his own in the greatest era of heavyeight boxing.Povetkin is a side show in a terrible era.Keep you comments coming they amuse me
Who cares? Nobody who likes Whyte has said overstated what a win against Povetkin would stand for. If he beats Povetkin, he's beaten an old, likely past his best boxer who was never even a world titlist to begin with. It's a bout Whyte should win. Povetkin's never been that good, so the first bout would've been a major disappointment, especially considering how easy it was going. I'm just laughing at the fact that you think Povetkin was "battling COVID". If Povetkin had it, which is doubtful anyway, he'd still be out running up mountains.
Povetkin was never that good? According to what metric? He's been a staple of the top ten for over a decade now and has fought more or less the who's who in the division in that time, with only two defeats. He's not an ATG, but he doesn't have to be to beat serial bum-beater Shavers, which is the topic of discussion in this thread. And yeah, he was battling covid. Anytime you get hospitalised multiple times for anything you're not doing too great health-wise.
The people arguing so emotively for Shavers with hyperbolic crap like "puts him in the hospital." You would not be putting money down on a guy as erratic and vulnerable as Shavers against a fighter who was only stopped once at 40 years of age by a prime gigantic opponent. With a gun to your head, you'd bet the house on Povetkin. Povetkin puts Shavers to sleep by the mid-rounds. Easy money.
No believe me i am perfectly sane unlike the people who think an average fighter like Povetkin beats Shavers.Still laughing at the thought of that
And I would agree with you, the first time I ever saw Povetkin fight was the Takam fight. One of the better heavyweight fights I've ever watched. Povetkin lacked nothing in skills, he lacked nothing in heart, he was well conditioned, his inside game was as good as it gets. I hope he doesn't fight again and leaves boxing with the surprising win in his last fight against a bigger, younger, and dangerous opponent.
