Imagine midget Shavers plodding forward getting jabbed in the schnozz for ten rounds while landing little to nothing with his big looping punches. In between Shaver's futile rushes to get to punching range we'll be treated to Wlad hugging Earnie in consolation, draped like a 245lb blanket over his back. Eventually, when Shaver's already iffy stamina is long gone and he's gasping for breath like a fish out of water, Wlad might put him out of his misery. I have no wish to see that fight, thanks.
Povetkin also gets to hit Shavers. Maybe you missed that part of the memo? And Povetkin is allowed to slip Shavers' big looping punches. Shocking, I know.
I assume we're talking about a prime version of Povetkin and not the grandpa version? Also, Joshua is a much much better fighter than Shavers.
I applaud you for responding to every bizarre illogical thing these guys come up with to favor an erratic and very vulnerable niche fighter over one of most consistent near men in HW history. Even a 40 year old version of Povetkin would still be a formidable opponent for the best version of Shavers. People abuse the "only lost to the best" title but in the case of Povetkin he truly did, while beating most of the rest . Even on his worst nights or simply in a bad style match up, he hustled a win against all but two Champions, whom had massive physical advantages over him. He has only been stopped once while 40 years of age by a younger larger Champion in a good scrap. Shavers is so much smaller and slower than Joshua. Povetkin is actually the taller guy here. Shavers has a limited skill set, stamina issues, defense issues, lacked durability, and was overall wildly inconsistent. Dangerous, could hurt anyone, but I would only favor him over very glassy fighters, even then it could be a toss up. If Norton vs Shavers 2 was announced, I would still hesitate to bet on Shavers. What if Norton comes out blasting and hurts him this time? Had Povetkin been a prized scalp of one of their favorite fighters instead of Wlad or AJ, they would be singing a different tune. These guys can be so transparent.
Maybe I missed something, but I checked boxrec and I do not think Povetkin has a great resume. I am not sure why you praise him so highly. To me, the kinda of fight he is always fighting, he is likely to get in trouble against Shavers
