Bruno really only lost to A+ fighters. Or when he gassed, and those fights where he gassed he was ahead on the cards. Against bonecrusher he was miles in front and got teed off on the final round. And say what you want about Witherspoon but he could bang and was one of the better belt holders in the 80s. And the other three losses, two to Mike Tyson and one to Lennox Lewis. He was also winning the fight versus Lewis, giving him a bit of a boxing lesson actually. Bruno has a very underrated jab that he could spear you with and his right hand was legit. Giving him a bit of a boxing lesson actually. Bruno has a very underrated jab that he could spear you with and his right hand was legit. He more often than not excelled against the B level of competition. His Achilles' heel of course getting caught and stamina problems. So he could be caught by Povetkin its a a toss up fight but I'll go against the grain and say Bruno gets him out of there early.

Povetkin has only lost to one fighter, an ATG one.

And his opposition has been decidedly average.

Shocking call by Power Puncher. Actually Povetkin would be the #1 guy today if not for Wlad. If Wlad could not stop Povetkin, I doubt Bruno would.

Povetkin has good skills, good hand speed, decent power, a good chin, and a good will to win.

The first few rounds would be close. I think Povetkin will pull away as Bruno’s suspect stamina, will power, and chin would cost him in the later rounds.

    Povetkin via TKO

Most likely Povetkin, but it would be a good fight.

Thats because he spent the entire fight wrapped around him like an octopus.

The youtube video shows every time Wlad illegally clinched Povetkin and the video lasted 22 mins. That means most of every round was a clinch.
    Mathematics prove it.

Bruno had the antidote for Povetkin that Wlad didn't - the uppercut. A nasty one at that.

When are you going to realize that Wlad is a limited one note fighter who is a product of a rank era.

I tend to agree with this. Tend to agree with this.

At first thoughts i went with Povetkin late but if Bruno can be successful against Lewis till 6-7 round , i think he can keep success going against Povetkin till the 12th like he did against MaCall.

When it come down to it , i can't pick guys from this era against previous greater era's. This era is just too weak.
Guys can't move. They all have cement in their boots.

Perennial men like Tua , Željko Mavrović , Pierre Coetzer would all be top rankers in todays era.

Takam was clearly out boxing Povetkin till he tired and he has nome of the tools , movement or punch of Bruno.

I realize I'm talking to a person with extreme prejudice here, but how is Wlad a limited fighter? He's got a great jab, hook and cross. His defense is good and so is his footwork. His power is outstanding, and his hand speed fast. To be on top for 10 years any sport is amazing.

Wlad floored Povetkin three times. Povetkin did not win more than one round! The fight took place in Russia.

Wlad clinches. So does Ali, and many others. If the ref was stricter on clinching, Wlad either KO’s Povetkin or uses his legs like he did vs. Jennings

What do you mean use his legs like he did vs. Jennings!!

Didn't you hear how many warnings he got for holding on before he eventually got a point taken?
And i thought Wlad couldn't KO him because it was Jennings who was running??
And what the hell is Wlad doing running away from Jennings anyway:rofl

As far as being limited goes , he had nothing to beat Jennings with other than a jab after his clinch was taken away from him.

The rounds were close - he won them with nothing more than the odd right hand.

Remember this was the smallest ring Wlad ever fought in . The smallest ring in pro boxing.

When Lewis was faced with Mercer in the same sized ring and forced into a fight , we didn't see Lewis trying to clinch to the closing bell.
He threw down and opened up with every punch in the book.
Hooks , uppercuts , combos to the head and body - you name it. And all up close and personal.
That was against Mercer , a guy 100 times better than Jennings in every department.

Wlad and this era is blatantly many levels bellow past era's. I don't know why you can't see this.

    Dino,

Your too far gone for reason. Wlad used his legs well vs Jennings, and hurt him when he decided to open up later in the fight. He's also 39! Lewis wasnt 39 when he faced Mercer.

Can you show me two better heavies at age 39?

Any credible third party ranking system has Wlad as a pound for pound fighter.

You are a country mile away from main street when it comes to Wlad.

Ok , take what i said about Jennings and apply it to Brewster.

Mercer >>> Brewster. Wlad gone in 5 against Brewster because he didn't have the variation of shots and inside ability to deal with him.

And im not sure if being 39 is any excuse. Jennings was hand picked to look good in NYC. He wasn't meant to last past 4 rounds.
He was also coming off the Pulev blow out which supposedly made him look his best in years.

Yes, but Bruno lost to more great fighters. This proves that he could only lose to great fighters, whereas Povetkin needs to lose to more great fighters to prove that he can only lose to great fighters. I think.

Firat Arslan beat Huck more convincingly than Povetkin.

So Povetkin wasn't at his best but which is more of a set-back?

Povetkin the way he was or being a 40 year old gate keeping Cruiser weight ?

Dude, the day you pick a white fighter to beat a black one will be your first time ever here in many years. :deal For shame.

I pick who I think wins. Check any poll thread, and you'll see.

Huck could not beat Povetkin on his worst day.

Povetkin has beaten quite a few top ten heavies ( Chagaev, Rhaman, Takam ), some of which held world title belts. I would say at least 75% of boxing fans view Povetkin as the 2nd best out there, behind Wlad.
