Ruiz has all the awkwardness of a wad of chewed bubble gum one unknowingly steps on and just can't seem to scrape it free from the bottom of one's shoe. I'd like to automatically say "Povetkin wins" but beating Ruiz isn't an automatic. I think a Povetkin vs Ruiz match would be very informative. The young Russian handled slick boxing Larry Donald well but the two biggest available names; Byrd and Ruiz aren't really slick boxers, they're more like awkward fighters with distinct styles. If Povetkin has the ringsmarts I think he has he will make adjustments to outpoint Ruiz. Chagaev, who probably is not as technically sound as Povetkin, convincingly outboxed Ruiz. Maybe Povetkin could do the same. Hopefully Povetkin's promoters will make a fight with Ruiz or Byrd.
