Exactly. And in his comeback fights against Charr, Wach, Perez and Takam ... they were all right in front of him. Nobody had any movement at all. Just guys standing there to be hit.

Povetkin was matched with those guys to give him confidence. I understand that.

But fighting a tall guy with power, and having to cut off the ring to even land, is something Povetkin hasn't had to do forever.

I'm glad he's up next. Bring him on. He's a legit challenger. But I think Wilder wins impressively.

Wach has much better defense than Wilder. Wilder got hit all night long vs Duhaupas and was almost out vs Molina, two guys that Povetkin destroys on the same night

The only problem is he doesn't destroy Wilder on any night.

Wach didn't have a great defense. He stood right in front of him with his hands up and got pummeled every round. Defense is "not" getting hit.

Wilder's going to circle out of range and attack when he feels like it. Povetkin will be fighting at Wilder's pace, and he's going to be getting hit with bombs in the process.

It'll be one-sided. There's no point in dragging this out. I hope they get this inked before the month is out. And I hope the fight takes place very early next year. But I feel like Povetkin's going to want to drag it out another eight or nine months, until next summer. And there's no need to.

 

I dunno why Wilder is underrated as much as he is on this forum. Dude has murderous 1-2's from distance. And Duhaupas is most certainly not less of a boxer than Wach. I wouldn't say he'd necessarily beat Povetkin but it will be a very good and possibly competitive HW bout.

I think Afolabi was the performance of the night followed by Lebedev, Durodola and Bivol.

 

Wilder Povetkin is a lot closer now. Mid to late stoppage for Pov now rather than early blow out like i initially thought .

Wach is one of the worst HWs ive ever seen in my life. Tyson's early 1985 KO victims had better skills and thats no joke.

Povetkin is open to a jab and right hand. Wilder throws those shots very fast and very hard. Every chin is crackable .

It may not even happen now with Povetkin writing himself out of the picture for the next 6 months. All the time lost on terrible fight against a joke of an opponent:-(

 

So the curse of 48-0 is real, Povetkin still kicks major a$$, Lebedev beat up Kayode, and Chakhkiev's brute ways fall short again?

 

But Bivol was expected to do what he did:think

 

Bivol fought a no hoper who came in on 2 days notice I believe. He's impressive but still this was too big of a mismatch. Durodola stopped a monster, even if Kyud's defense is weak, he's very intimidating and a big mental challenge; doing what Durodola did so fast is highly impressive.

 

Check out his resume and compare it to other recent contenders/title-holder's resumes. I highly doubt you can find a contender who faced his first top100 opponent in his 26th pro bout or a title-holder who made his first two defences against journeyman/gatekeeper level fighters. That's the reason he's underrated and seen as a joke. But of course he has a fair chance against Povetkin and anyone else other then Wlad.
