This guy seems to have stopped watching boxing 30 years ago, yet he's consistently the most dismissive poster in this entire forum when it comes to discussions of contemporary champions and contenders. Coincidence?
I'd imagine Perry would think Povetkin slow, sloppy, lacking in Olympic pedigree, or a fine head of strawberry blond hair.
Povetkin is the real deal. I was shocked at how easily Wlad handled him in their frankly awful fight. I'd liked to have seen that again, with a better ref. And I'd like to see him against any of the other champions right now, because that is his level. I think he beats them all except AJ, against whom I'd still give him a decent chance.
I think historically Povetkin is a very good fighter, though he'd always struggle with taller opponents who can keep him at bay with their jab. He's actually a very old school kind of fighter, physically and stylistically, and I think he would have fit in very well in an earlier era.
yup undisputed world champ Baer knocks failed contender but great amateur Pov senseless. Pov beats Baer in the amateurs though.
Coool! So he's going to find out about a guy called Tyson and dudes like Holyfield and Lewis and Wlad and Vits for the first time. I envy him
Nah, he's heard of them. I doubt he's seen more than a handful of rounds of Wlad and Vitali fighting though.
The Baer who looked sloppy vs Braddock? The Bear that lost how many times? Povektin wins here via decision.
We are talking the best Baer. THE WORLDS HWT CHAMPION. Potvikin is just a lowly contender in an era where it's easy to be a contender. He has never been worlds hwt champion. He will never be worlds hwt champion.
