I know the general consensus will be a dominating performance by Vlad if he can control the fight with the jab and use the range and pick off Povetkin from the outside but could it be that Povetkin can get inside with his hook and angles and right hand right curve cross/hook .....this fight can boil down to wills....Vlad is on an all-time high in experience and confidence but Alexander Povetkin has shown some major improvements under Kosta's tutelage, it only takes one snowball to start an avalanche....can A.P. do it or will Big K make it look easy Thoughts
Povektin has good heart. He won't go away easily, and from what I've seen he has a solid chin too. His hook is very good, but essentially brining a knife to a gun fight. He's going to have to navigate past Wlad's jab, and laser like right hand, then land something before Wlad quickly moves out of range, or clamps down on him. To compound the problem, Wlad keeps a high guard, designed to block the hook. This is the most significant heavyweight fight since Wlad vs Chagaev, and it might resemble it. I give Povetkin a 1 in 5 chance to upset partly because I think he has good intangibles and will to win.
Vladimir does nothing "quick". To beat big slow moving fighters you need to be quick and know how to fight. Alex has not shown the ability or fighting style to win here.
Either brother is big and slow. Fast for his size does not mean they are quick just not as slow as other walking statues.
I noticed less carelessness in the way A.P. fires off his punches and he is not wasting as much energy. A. P. has also shown a few new punches in his arsenal and looks to be in better condition.....Kosta brings much to he table, I still think Vlad wins this but this is an interesting match up
Unless this is fixed by the Russian mafia (possible - where's all this money coming from ??) , Wladimir should win easily.
Povetkin is entertaining but he was outboxed by Huck and for many rounds, Chambers. I don't think he has an answer for Wlad's 1-2 down the middle. I would hope he's watching tape of the Calvin Brock fight, no reason Povetkin shouldn't be able to slip the jab and attack the body in similar manner.
