You understand, people could have the worst case of dickrider ever, and would still have trouble saying their boy could beat Wlad right...

Keeping your head low and working behind a quick jab to setup shop on his chest is exactly how you beat the no uppercut version of Waldo.

Povetkin can pull this off easily imo. He's the real deal. Sasha by TKO late in a big test.

The obvious answer is Klit, but I'll take Povetkin by wishful thinking. I'll go with Def here a bit too. It could be that Povetkin can work inside of Wlad's jab and do damage. Byrd will be a nice test.

I do have a question. Who here saw the Donald fight? I watched it on youtube but it seems to have disappeared. Povetkin looked to have abandoned his aggressive style a bit there, understandable since he was taking a step up.

But, hopefully, he'll go back to swarming against Byrd, then Brock or Chambers, because relentless aggression is the way to trouble any of those three, and Wlad too, although the Klit puzzle will be more difficult to solve.

Am I wrong on the Donald fight? That was my impression, but it's sometimes hard to see on youtube. Too bad the fight was removed though.

Damn thats a shame they removed it from Google video. I watched it some time ago but it's been so long I don't remember much.

Povetkin has a pretty cautious style almost all the time. He'll loosen up though once he's felt his opponent's power and feels comfortable with it.

I just think Waldo suffers from opponents who are small enough and get low enough to avoid his bombs. Waldo post-Sanders has been nothing but a jab and right hand occassional left hook. He does nothing inside and has no uppercut at all.

If this were the Waldo who fought Monte Barrett I'd pick Waldo by knockout. But that guy is long gone. Povetkin gets inside and does a number on him now.

I agree with this. Povetkin will have to come forward though and take chances to get through the jab and height advantage.

One more comment on this tournament. I have always been a Byrd fan, but if by some scenario he wins this thing (he did it before), there is NO WAY he should get near a ring with Wlad. I like the idea of making top guys fight, but Byrd doesn't belong here without at least one good win over a top 15 guy.

Wlad would ko Povetkin right now if they fought, but maybe in a couple years he might give old Wlad a fight.

As odd as it seems to us, if Byrd is in an eliminator to fight for the IBF title again, and he wins it (likely), he'll certianly get right back in there with Wlad. Byrd will make another good payday, and certianly won't refuse it. Who would?

But that said, I wonder how they's promote Byrd Wlad III, not long after Wlad just took Byrd apart, for the secont time........... ? That's be a tough fight to sell.

I wonder what the hype/PR lines would be for that fight. Making that fight sound competitive and intersting would certianly put the PPV marketing boys to the test. LOL

Maybe they could have Wladimir use only his left hand and tie the right behind his back. That would make it a little more competitive.

Wladimir just has too much size and talent for the very good but not great Povetkin.

Povetkin has more talent - as evident from his amatuer career - he had a better one then Wlad, even as he is not as big. He is the greatest amateur super-heavy since the division was added,

He also has better start at pro, and and a better chin and a style to bother Wlad.

It is no gimmie for Wlad.
