Gold metal winner - take nothing way from him. This feat is more impressive than a HW title. 1 Winner every 4 years vs 4 Belt Holders, that interchange throughout the year (sometimes).
Everything he's done, all his wins, all the hard work didn't come easy with the new strand of HW Gargantuan's.
He relied on skill, determination, dedication, mental toughness. Then something happened - BAM - popped for PEDs and Again Popped for PEDs, maybe even a 3rd time, who knows.
Everything, all respect, all special skill, gone in an instant.
PEDs doesn't "give" you the ability to box. They dont give you the intelligence to know when to duck, parry, or how to throw a proper over hand right. But they do give you Stamina, endurance (chin), speed, power, energy to reach heights you normally can not go.
They are banned for a reason. Performance Enhancing Drugs, keep close watch on the middle word Enhancing.
The F'er cheated - plain and simple. He should have no legacy or significance. Just like all cheats, his name should be stricken from memory.

He is clearly the third best HW of the century, of the whole "Klitschko era."

If you're making a list of the 50 or 100 best HW's or whatever, I think a fair mind might end up rating him in a spot that many on here would bemoan about overrating... His resume has long been underrated by folks. Skillset and talent, eh, consistently just slightly underrated I would say.

 

You can't really argue much with his cv and record which is why he's #2 on boxrec without a title. I would argue he could be #1 on cv.

 

Povetkin was big enough to win the gold medal in the super heavyweight division!!! Povetkin was discriminated against by the WBC and others, after being cleared by VADA, the WBC did not want to accept it................I guess Haymon would not allow Povetkin to fight anymore, at least he had to stay away from glass jawed Wilder!
