Undefeated WBC/IBF junior welterweight champion Devon Alexander "The Great" will next appear on HBO when he makes a championship homecoming in St. Louis on August 7th. Heavy-handed Marcos Maidana, who like Alexander is coming off of two straight stoppage victories on major network television, is the frontrunner to land the bout. That would be a great fight, although I'd rather Alexander and Bradley got it on to unify for three big ones.
opposite Darchinyan-Donaire on Showtime. Not a huge deal with a DVR, but August is usually a very slow month for boxing, so their should be another weekend available for one of these networks. The only other fight made for August is Dawson-Pascal.
Alexander vs Maidana? Now that is a potential fight of the year right there, a matchup that all fans would welcome with open arms. I like Alexandor. I think for someone as young as him, he needs to be greatly admired for the skill he possesses, and his 'I'll fight anybody attitude'. I agree with him, he'll tame Maidana and go on to be the king of this division when he takes on Bradley, and beats him.
