But that's what Murray does, in every fight he's been in. He doesn't do movement. Why would anyone in their right mind expect Murray to come in and show something to a world skill level, when he'd never shown it against lesser boxers? So what if he had a full training camp, they could have given him two, he was never bringing the movement he would have needed to win that fight.

 

Getting the Rios fight for Murray was great work from Frank. But I think he messed up not getting a WBC title shot for Murray when he was No.2 with them and the eliminator & Champion were winnable fights especially in the UK. Also not sure why you would sign him and never put a fight on in Manchester.

But Murray is more to blame for his career going to **** than anybody else.

I have said before that i've been posting on Boxrec forum on and off since 2003 but have also read the eastside forums over the years but never bothered joining or posting here as the general opinion on Boxrec was that eastside was full of trolls or knobheads. That's not my opinion but certain boxrec posters thought they were "above" posters here.

Why did i finally make an account here? have you been to the boxrec forum lately...it looks ****ing terrible since they changed the design, infact it looks horrendous and is typical of some designer coming in and ****ing up what was fine before and turning it to utter ****.

Personally very chuffed if this happens. We booked to go out to see Kell so would be great to cheer on a brit and have the sky cameras/media etc out there so it feels like a proper fight week.

 

Getting a lot more than the Matchroom show, 3 articles on the BBC in 3 days, not a word about the show on Sky, there's one on Fury as well.

 

I agree with this.

It's not a bad thing for a fighter to take a chance against a guy who'll simply outclass him. If we were talking about putting someone like Eubank Jr. in with Golovkin, that'd be a different matter, but if Selby loses, it'll likely be on points in a dull fight. He's not going in there with a vicious, hard hitting machine who, if Selby is outclassed, will do him serious damage. What's the worst that can happen? If Selby loses, he can come back and will have added experience under his belt. He won't suffer a career damaging loss, I don't think.

I can understand people being critical when a fighter is being poorly managed but taking a fight against Alexander is the opposite of poor management. Selby will make a lot of money, raise his profile and if he loses, he can bounce back. It's win/win for them, unlike something like Murray/Rios, which was against a dangerous fighter and that hurt Murray a lot.

To make a comparison, Carl Frampton isn't deserving of a world title shot right now but if he was signed to fight Rigo, I'd have no issue with that. If he was signed to fight Donaire, you'd worry about him.

Compared to 3 years ago this card is flying under the radar.
