The first was a dominating performance for Alexander. But...Maidana has improved a whole.lot since been with Robert Garcia. Who wins now?
The first fight was really bad, since then Alexander looks worse and maidana has improved unbelievably. I think it would look like porter Alexander. I don't see It being made though, no upside for either guy.
Based off of their recent performances, I'm more inclined to say Maidana, but who knows? For all we know Alexander has a stylistic approach that will always see him winning against Marcos no matter how many times they square off. I'd say this is more than a logical fight for both. Both men are coming off of losses and need a high profile win to put them back in the mix for title contention.
Disagree paper, maidanas stock has sky rocketed, the loss didn't hurt him at all. If he fought and lost to Devon again it would hurt him bad. I think a rematch with khan is a better choice, both on the rise.
I heard an interview with a top trainer a while back (I'm pretty sure it was John Scully) who said that he'd been told by numerous different (think it was five), reputable sources that Maidana was ill for the Alexander fight. Regardless of whether there's any validity to it or not, Alexander did get away with a ridiculous amount of holding in that fight though.
