I don't think anyone who actually knows anything about boxing is saying Devon is a bad fighter, what they are saying is that for there to be a true king of the 140 lbs division we need to see Khan vs the Bradley/Alexander winner. Khan recognizes this, Bradley recognizes this, yet Devon and Cunningham are already playing down the fight. People are also miffed at Cunningham saying 'Who's Amir Khan?' when Amir beat the **** out of Kotelnik, who was in a very close fight with Alexander, one which many people thought he won. You're looking for racial undertones when there's really nothing there, no one is saying **** about Bradley, and the last time I checked he was just as much of a Black American as Devon.
Whilst I do agree with you that, with some people, a fighter’s race place a massive role in the like or dislike directed to them. But in Alexander’s case, he’s being treated no different to any other fighter out there... Khan, when knocked out, faced an overwhelming amount of criticism for his shortcomings. The few petty comments here and there about Alexander, is absolutely nothing compared to what Khan got. Very few people took it upon themselves to defend him. He was immediately disregarded as a hype-job that will never win a world title. In fact, people still hold this opinion about him being a hype-job. Kelly Pavlik, when schooled by Hopkins, was also dismissed as a ‘great white hope’ by everyone. His brilliant wins over Jermaine Taylor were forgotten within minutes, and he was labelled as a bum. Ricky Hatton, after losing to two ATGs, also ets an incredible amount of stick from our US counterparts. And the list goes on.
This. If it was Khan saying he didn't need the winner of Bradley v Alexander there would be an even bigger outcry against him than what has been aimed at Alexander.
Cunningham is a ****ing loud-mouth and everyone knows this. And for the record, just because you haven't heard the HATE on Bradley....doesn't mean it's not there. And it absolutely amazes me that people in a website for the "Hardcore Boxing Fan" are still using the "Connect-the Dots" method of rating fighters. So Khan wins more comfortably versus Ketolnik, but because Alexander struggles...this somehow means Khan is the Better fighter...REALLY? RULE #1 IN BOXING IS STYLES MAKES FIGHTS!!!! And if you you and other posters don't know this...then why are you here on a Website designed for the Hardcore Boxing Fan!!!!
Why dont you repspond to the other things he said, he makes valid points. Nobody saying khan is better we all just want to see 140 guys prove eachother against themselves. If alexanders trainer says khan aint **** you can expect people to bring up kotelnik and compare resumes
Of course I understand styles make fights, but that doesn't take away from the fact that Alexander looked horrible in the fight. All Kotelnik did was walk forwrd with a high guard and Devon was baffled. Also, if you actually read my post I never said Khan was definitely the better fighter, I said the winner of Alexander and Bradley needs to face off against Khan to determine who the best in the division is, which is why I'm pissed off at him and his team for seemingly dismissing the fight.
That's all I am saying...but Mutha'fukas' act like I am speaking Chinese and on top of that, they somehow translate my post that I am saying that BLACK FIGHTERS ARE BETTER!!!! I can't believe the complete lack of comprehension on ESB...DAMN!!! This content is protected
People are saying its not relevant as much as you might think and definitely not in the Alexander situation.
Boom. I'm not denying that there i a racial element to a lot of fans choice of favourite or least favourite fighters, but ths situation has **** all to do with race and everything to do with Alexander and his team acting like bitches.
It still has nothing to do with race. Like I said, if it had anything to do with race, why would the same people who are calling Alexander a bum and a hype-job rooting for Bradley? It does not make sense. Khan got knocked out in less than a minute, and you still read today about how he has a glass jaw, etc. Hatton only lost to the 2 best in this era, yet you still read on this forum how he was a hype-job, overrated, etc. This crap does not only happen when a boxer with a specific race loses/gets knocked out/or loses a close decision. Bringing race into anything is an easy way out. I repeat, why are said people supporting Bradley in this bout if it was about race? I've said this to Khan supporters aswell who continually bring the race card into the argument... You summed it up with this sentence, "Look...all of you can like or dislike a fighter for any ****ing reason...it's your prerogative."...and that's exactly what it is.
I don't give a damn about that...they can like who they wanna like, that's fine. But what I don't understand is why they (fans/posters) want "certain" fighters to fight Jesus, King Kong and Thor in their first 25 fights and God-Forbid they have a bad night versus Thor....then all of a sudden he's a BUM. Yet other fighters get brought-along with Care, Q-Tips and Cotton-Balls are seen as TOP-DAWGS!!!! That's all I am saying!!! Why is That?
Because a section of boxing fans are morons and buy into the lies fed to them by money grabbing promoters, I'm not arguing with you there mate but I'm trying to say that it's not just black fighters who get unfairly judged on one poor performance.
