Sadly, I must agree. Arguello stalks and stalks, but can't seem to get the punches off. Whitaker by fairly cut and dried decision.
As said arguello would try to close range and catch Whitaker but he would end the night very frustrated and on the wrong end of a UD
Arguello wins, Whitakers poor power and pitty pat punches would roll off Arguello like water, also Arguello was 4 inch taller, and had a helluva lot harder punch, yea Whitaker had a good defense , BUT you gotta hurt your opponent to win, and i don't see Whitaker hurting Arguello at all:-( Arguello at lightweight beat Jim Watt, Cornelius boza edwards, Roberto Elizondo, Bobby Chacon, Ray Mancini, and Jose Luis Ramirez, yea the same guy that beat Whitaker, and at featherweight beat Bazooka Limon, and Ruben Olivares... Sorry but i'll take those guy's over Roger Mayweather and Greg Haugen.. Whitaker ONLY HAD 17 KO'S in 40 fights, so he would have to rely on the judges for the win, that didn't work out against , Ramirez, de la hoya, AND Julio cesar Chavez, and it wouldn't work out against Alexis...
Whitaker. I'm not sure if I'd pick any lightweights over prime Whitaker, except for Duran. And that is a very tough matchup. Great boxing skills, use of angles, speed, bodypunching. Far from a big puncher, but he could do damage with his left-hand.
