Perfect KO over Rooney, does power come from technical form like explained on this vid by Wylie?

As good of a 1-2 as you will ever see. AA caught Rooney right on the end of that two after more or less taking his eyes away with the jab. Such an amazing fighter.

The video misses a huge trick in not having the sound of that punch landing displayed. They should have had it right up front with no music in real speed and then expanded elsewhere.

This version really captures the acoustics -

Look how he easily finds openings in Rooney`s high guard.

The difference in that last punch is the beauty of it, and is, of itself, the best argument for textbook technique. This is what I mean: Watch how Arguello is throwing his punches. He is effortlessly throwing hard, damaging blows, including that exact same two punch sequence.

Finally he sets it up exactly right and, without drawing back or swinging like a caveman, he throws a rocket of a right hand. The difference was in his hips- a more violent twist and turning the right hip through the target.

To add to what I said above...
Early in that round Arguello had success with the left uppercut, right hand combination. I'm pretty certain that he thought he would end the fight with that sequence because, at one point, he really turns on right hand after an uppercut. But Rooney blocked that punch and Arguello didn't throw the combination again.

It was right about then that he started to shade to his right because he had decided to counter the Rooney jab. So he created the angle to do so by sliding right and hid it by bringing the right uppercut to the body.

He was great that's for sure. He's one of these guys that genuinely worked out and dissected his opponent.
