lets pretend arguello moved up to 140 and instead of meeting a juiced up madman in pryor, he meets the long reigning cervantes. both had a lot in common stylewise. both relied on orthodox boxing skills and numbing ko power. both had devestating right hands. neither one was a speedmerchant. both had reliable chins. and both were tall guys.....they stood 5ยด10. arguello was the greater fighter pound for pound. but cervantes had the advantage of being the natural jr. welter. so who wins??
Depends which Cervantes. An 1972-75 Cervantes knocks Arguello out in about ten rounds imo. The slower, more ponderous Cervantes that Pryor faced in 1980 probably loses a 9-6 type decision to Arguello, or gets stopped in the last couple of rounds.
