25 rounds, at 135, no TKOs. Can Arguello bomb out the Durable Dame? Or does Nelson break him down, as he did with many before?
Hard to imagine that Nelson would be able to handle a modern boxer as good as Arguello. Stoppage win for Alexis.
Hmm, not to hard for me to imagine. Every gen has their merits, and I especially don't think chins change
15 rounds with modern application of the rules, Arguello would probably pick Nelson apart for a wide points win or mid-to-late rounds stoppage. 25 rounds with turn of the century refereeing, I don't like Arguello's chances of surviving.
I would agree if it was modern application of rules and 15 rounds but 25 rounds seems to play into Nelson's hands. Arguello would potentially need to adapt either his style or his punch output to be able to last the distance. And he would have to score a clean knockout as TKOs don't count.
Intruiging did Nelson face many who could hit like Arguello? Gans could bang but he was ill by the time he fought Bat. Herrera was a big puncher and Nelson beat him.Maybe Nelson's stamina would wear Arguello down a little like Pryor's non stop attack?
Wolgast was a pretty big puncher, Nelson had him early but Wolgast broke down a slightly older Nelson for a 40 round ref stoppage (no knockdowns). Nelson beat Herrara who could jolt, and he also beat McGovern Nelson was only ever truly KO'd when he was fighting on with brain damage
If thought his illness was after their first fight (or do you mean the times where Nelson actually beat Gans?)
