Tough one. Jack was more of a roughing type of pressure fighter than the swarming, in and out Pryor, who I thought a past his prime Arguello did well against. Jack had a very good chin and a good punch of his own. He wouldn't stop coming, though he wasn't as fast and off-putting as Pryor. Therefore Arguello(also being at a better part of his career at 135) would be able to set himself more. I am not sure, seeing the immense beating Williams put on him while still on his feet, that Arguello could truly hurt Jack with one punch, and while more technical, could not put together combos like Williams, with that kind of speed and ferocity. I do think Arguello could land often on Jack's style though, while being roughed up on his own. I think Arguello wins a decision based on clean punching.
Alexis Arguello was my favorite "modern fighter ".Loved his beautiful punching ability...But I know a little bit about Beau Jack, having seen this dynamo MANY times coming up and in his prime...Beau Jack in my opinion would have been much too strong for the slender Alexis who really was at his best about 130 pounds..Beau Jack before he burned out from overuse was a very, very strong 135 pounder who at his zenith beat a tough Fritzie Zivic twice, Henry Armstrong,1943, Bob Montgomery, Willie Joyce, Al Bummy Davis, etc...When i as a young lad traveled to Philly to see Ike Williams almost hospitalize Beau Jack, who was at that time on the skids...But at his best Beau too strong and busy for Alexis...
