Alexis Arguello vs Ben Villaflor at 130 lbs, both prime. Would the Explosive Thin Man stop the tough left handed fighter? Or would Ben prove too tough?

I would pick Arguello to stop him. If Ben shows up focused it has the potential to be a firefight...I still Arguello think beats him and stops him... but this could be a fun fight. It is always good to see Villaflor get a mention on this forum

I remember Ben very well, was a very good southpaw but I would have to go with the explosive Alexis Arguello by a 13th round stoppage, his right hand would cause considerable damage to Villaflor down the stretch,

The tough Phillipino Vilaflour would have his moments against Arguello, his South paw stance, tight guard and countering ability would cause Arguello some difficulty early.
But the difference between great and good would become evident as early as the 5th or 6th rd.
Factor in Arguello's hugh height and reach advantages, it spells devastating ko loss for Vilaflour, possibly from a body shot because of his high guard and slipping ability.
Arguello stops Vilaflour between the 8th or 10th rds.

Interesting that everyone so far has picked Arguello by stoppage. Villaflor was tough and never stopped. Of course, it's not beyond the realms of possibility that Arguello would be the only fighter to stop him but I'm more cautious here and think it goes the distance. Still, Arguello wins widely.

Arguello was much more hittable vs southpaws IMO, and that's not good vs Villaflor. I think Arguello could hit the deck in this one, like he did vs Ganigan. Villaflor was a huge banger with a lot of resolve. If he went for it, Arguello would have to be careful. But I do pick Arguello to win by KO. He found it easier landing on southpaws too. And Arguello's left hook and straight right was brutal.
