this would have been very very interesting to me.

dejesus was the second best light weight during the duran era

and arguello was the best fighter at some time in at least three weight classes, but i dont think arguello had the best success against slick, fluent fighters like dejesus.

    Very interesting fight indeed....

De Jesus would give Arguello hell with his boxing ability and his power would do a little bit more than just get his attention too.

In spite of that, I'm inclined to go with Arguello by 15th round ko.

I think DeJesus will outbox Arguello and be up by 3 or 4 points by the 15th round, but Arguello's power will ensure that DeJesus will expend a lot of energy trying to avoid his shots, and whilst he will do it round after round, it will tax him, to the point where he will start getting lazy, start taking Arguello shots, and finally get caught with something big (from either hand) from which there'll be no return.

Now if Esteban did take it and hold on to win, I wouldn't be all that surprised, but I'm guessing that Alexis would pull it off in dramatic fashion.

    great post,

like your emplying, im sure the deciding point of the fight would be the championship rounds. it wouldent be farfetched if dejesus was to be leading and it wouldent be farfetched either if dejusue was dog tired by round 13 like against duran.

I like sweet scientist's assessment. Dejesus was a beautiful boxer but I don't think he was impossible to find. Arguello would find a way.

If Vilomar Fernandez can beat Arguello, then Esteban definitely has a shot.

Fernandez was a southpaw if I remember correctly.

And it was 10 round, non-title fight.

Majority decision for Vilomar in that one.
referee: Arthur Mercante 5-5 | judge: Artie Aidala 5-4 | judge: Sam Iron 6-4 ~

I see a late TKO by Arquello over Dejesus.

I think Esteban can a decision maybe he knocked down but does enough to win.

Esteban would be leading on all of the cards by a few rounds, but I see Arguello getting to him and basically dominating the championship rounds before ending it in a dramatic finish.

I agree with you both. I could see Dejesus leading by a hair going into the championship rds. Arguell staying patient with his body attack. And getting to a fatigued Dejesus in the 14th rd.

I think Esteban takes Alexis in a close fight. His experience with Duran would probably help him edge Arguello, with DeJesus doing enough defensively to discourage him.

DeJesus over 10, Arguello over 15.
