    Arguello late stoppage

Both are great boxers but Arguello has the better chin and power.

I don't think Pedroza's fouling would bother him at all like it did some of his less experienced opponents.

I think it would be a closely contested contest all the way though.

Geez, that’s tough. Maybe Arguello, given his range & accuracy. I am not so sure Pedroza’s fouling wouldn’t bother him though.

Arguello always had the air of a gentleman about him, he was a professional and I think Pedroza's fouling would get him angry. Arguello when he's calm is dangerous, Arguello when he's mad and wants to get back at you sounds like a nightmare. I think Pedroza takes some of the early rounds with his craftiness but Arguello is too accurate and too powerful, he hunts down Pedroza and stops him in the middle rounds I think.

Arguello by a come from behind KO. Struggles early on with Pedroza's movement and maybe fouling lol, but as the fight goes on he has more success pinning him down.
Around the 13th round he drops him with a right hand and then ends the fight with a brutal combination to the head and body.

This is a great matchup. They are virtually a wash physically. It's widely accepted Arguello peaked at 130 and i agree but he spent a lot of time at 126 and was a quality operator there. Both possess elite level stamina and are specialists over the long haul.

Pedroza is way faster and more slick than Arguello but Arguello hits miles harder. Arguello absolutely struggles with slick fighters. The flipside is how many quality punchers in their prime did Pedroza beat? He was KO's a few times early but he seems to have become a lot better and more robust once he moved up and matured. He was quite green in those fights to be fair.

I'm split. Arguello power might be the difference and he might wear him down. Pedroza won't likely fade tho. I wonder how he will take Arguello's power when he has to and that's the answer to this riddle.

For me It's an Arguello stoppage, probably later on or it's a Pedroza decision. Fascinating matchup.

I would personally take Arguello late stoppage.

I keep thinking about Zamora's explosive power and how his match-up with Pedroza played out. Arguello was a lot bigger, to say the least.

Not a fight I'd feel comfortable betting on.

I think Alexis would stop him in the latter rounds due to not only his edge in power but Alexis could take a man out with one shot as he proved in multiple weight classes and that also with the fact that he threw accurate straight shots is alot to ask a boxer to survive for 15 rounds.
I also think Eusebio lacks the power to discourage Alexis and also Alexis had pretty good stamina as well which would be a big problem for Eusebio.

I’m with you I’m less convinced than others here about Arguello’s chances.

Pedroza was extremely green and fighting at in an entirely different weight class even by the original divisions. He was knocked out next fight which gave him three knockout losses in his first 17 fights. He moved up not one but two divisions and didn't lose for another 9 years, becoming one helluva featherweight. Bantamweight was obviously not the place for him to be. I don't put too much faith in those early results tho i am interested in how he goes against top shelf power in a fellow ATG package.

Yeah I know he wasn't the fighter he would become. I was mostly wondering about his durability against world class operators with explosive power. If the 5'2 Zamora found him like that I just find myself wondering what a equally explosive, rangier puncher with laser precision would do once he started landing. I think Pedroza could potentially be ahead before he gets caught.

I actually think Zamora is pretty underrated, if a little defensively porous. Ever see this one? Philippines vs Mexico with both fighters tasting the deck. Didn't see it available anywhere so I uploaded it. That Zamora left hook is nearly Eugene Hart'esque, Jim! lol
