Who do you think would win this match at 135? Both guys have similar styles so it would be interesting to see who holds the advantages.
What I remember about Arguello, was that he was so confident in his power... and I'm afraid that would be his undoing against an Ike Williams. He would be right there for Williams to find. It would be a brutal fight, but I like Ike too (by stoppage)
They have similar styles, but I think Williams is a little quicker and more "elusive". Plus, he is a full fledged lightweight, while Arguello slowed down a step IMO in moving from 130 to 135. Based on that, I give Ike the edge in this.
Alexis was a great all-around fighter but I'm afraid Ike will be a little too much for him. I like Ike by late stoppage.
I take Ike aswell, it could actually go for Alexis, im more willing than some others seem to entertain that thought. But i can only pick Williams when asked to budge,
Thought at least some people who have favoured Arguello seems like eveyone thinks Ike would take him.
Ike would win in a 13th round stoppage, one of the few at lightweight that Alexis Arguello couldn't beat.
Ike Williams who I saw ringside was too quick and devastating a puncher for the more methodical Arguello. Ike would get there first with the most.. Ike by stoppage in 7 rds...
Arguello might boss it on the outside and hold his own more than enough inside, he could win here although I wouldn't put money on it
Ike too fast and busy. Arguello could turn it around with one punch, but I think Ike lands more and takes less here. Probably mid-late stoppage.
Ike had the better jab, is faster like DaveK well said and the main reason to me is that Ike is the busier man in the ring..... Ike by decision.....
I wouldn't say Ike had the better jab necessarily. He didn't really even have the style to greatly trouble Arguello per se. This is a very close match-up with each fighter holding certain advantages. Ike's explosiveness may be the deciding factor, but then Arguello was not an easy man to finish by any means. I'd be surprised by a stoppage occurring any time other than the championship rounds either way, and in that light it may even favour Arguello. Sit me on the fence.
