No poll, as there's too many weight classes they can matched-up in.

    Who wins at FW?
    At 130?
    At LW?

Featherweight is probably close if its over 12...Maybe Juan holds on even to a close decision.

    Superfeather-Lightweight..Arguello stops him late.

    thats how i see it

very close at FW almost a pick em id edge slightly to AA but JMM had good moveemnt at FW and that could bother AA.

SFW JMM used movement less. AA late T/KO

    LW ''

This mythical matchup gets alot more interesting if JMM beats Floyd Mayweather this coming September.

.....as it stands, I like JMM by close decision at 126 lbs.
Arguello by close decision at 130 lbs.
....and Arguello by clear decision or late tko at 135 lbs or higher.

JMM is too mulit-dimensional and has too much skill, that this matchup would be competitive at any weight they fought in.

I dont see why...we can only base it on form at said weights and its fairly clear for the most part that Marquez has been not quite up to Arguello's level, despite being damn close at times.

Explain yourself about JMM's not being up to Arguello's level.
When you make a statement like that, it helps if you clarify it by backing it up with examples or at least the reasoning behind your statement.

Based on what Ive seen on film of course. What else would I base it on?

Marquez clearly beat John but still struggled with him..Same goes for Norwood and Casamayor.

Different kettle of fish stylistically to Arguello but I think we can agree those guys arent the high level operators that Alexis time and time again proved himself to be.

I didnt think it was hard to see...Watch their best performances at the weights and see for yourself.

Alexis would have ko'ed the likes of Norwood and an old Barrera for sure. An old Casamayor would have been an easy beat for him too.

May have struggled with John, but in a title fight, I bet he'd still clearly distinguish himself.

I also think Arguello would knock out Pac from 126-135.

Alexis at 126 was good, but not the same monster he was at 130, and not the master ring general he was later.

Exactly! Arguello was'nt as polished as he later became at 130 lbs and then higher.....which would lead me to believe that Marquez would edge him at 126 lbs.

John's run around the ring was'nt a walk in the park for JMM......but by most knowleadgeable observers opinion, he beat John and quite handily on their cards.....

......thats something that cant be said of Arguello against another runner in Vilomar Fernandez.

.....and I dont see the struggles you talk about with Casamayor and MAB....

Arguello was top notch.....but he did lose rounds and got hit quite frequently.

Arguello brought a heavy power game with him which is always a danger to any fighter.....but there were alot of things that Marquez did better than he did that could work to his advantage.

Marquez is a strong counterpuncher that can move around the ring quite nicely. A nice style to have against a slower footed Arguello.

I like Arguello in this matchup at 130 lbs and 135 lbs, but its not cut and dry as some of the posts here lead me to believe.

JMM definitely can pose Arguello problems.
