Who wins this war at 130 Lbs.? Both fighters at thier peaks & just about to jump to 135. Arguello getting ready for Watt. & Chavez who is preparing for Rosario. 15 Rounds.
Very tough call. Arguello starts slow to figure out his opponent. Chavez could take a slight lead going into the mid rounds. But the tricky part is BOTH fighter seem to warm up as the fight progresses. Arguello is really strong late, But Chavez has a very effective body attack, which could weaken Arguello. IMO after 12 Chavez should have a slight lead. But in the 13-15 range, Who Knows? Arguello lets go the power punches here. But a prime Chavez has a solid Chin. Arguello could score enough to reverse the decision or earn a hardfought draw.
I edge towards Chavez. I think he would be able to survive the late rounds against Arguello and would have won enough rounds to take the decision. He'd have trouble getting a lot of serious damage done himself though, this fight really could go either way.
Wow, the battle of two great body punchers... would have been a dream matchup. That being said, as much as I admire Arguello, I'd give to Chavez. Close decision.
...................Arguello by decision. I sometimes think Chavez gets a bit overrated at 130 because of the total scope of his work. Chavez at 130 was not the Chavez at 135 or 140. He was much stronger and more dominant at the higher weights.
Damn, I made my original post thinking that it was at 135. At 130 Chavez had not quite peaked, and it was Arguello's best weight, Alexis wins at this weight.
