This is a fight that I happened to find after looking at Alexis Arguello's career, a 3 time world champion who dominated the featherweight and lightweight divisions in the 70s and 80s. It was very interesting to see Kevin Rooney use Cus D'Amato's peek-a-boo style in the fight. He definitely hasn't perfected it like Mike Tyson but still evades many shots. He has good heart but suffers a second round KO. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9GunrWLf32M
This shows just how accurate and powerful Arguello was. Almost immediately he timed Rooney perfect and started nailing him and lining him up for harder shots. Then ...CRACK...Rooney's lights go out with the most picture perfect right hand you'll ever see.
I remember the first time i saw it, i re-wound it about 20 times so i could hear the sound of the punch landing again and again.
This knockout over Kevin Rooney, his prelude to the first fight with Aarron Pryor, right along with Arguello's devastating knockout of Billy Costello a few years later to me just goes to show that had Alexis had more time to acclimate himself to 140 before his two fights with Pryor he might've taken one of those fights.
