Arguello would decision De La Hoya in either a 12 round, or 15 round fight, Oscar is too special to be stopped by Alexis.
The most likley result would be Arguello by decision. I think he would start to pick DelaHoya apart by the mid rounds but I could see Oscar putting on his track shoes or at least being in survival mode. It would be hard to stop DelaHoya but I think ETM gets the W.
Oscar wasn't nearly technically developed enough yet to beat Arguello at 135. He was still more of a stalker with an underdeveloped offensive repertoire. He was overly reliant on the left hook and jab at 135, and didn't possess the varied offensive attack, lateral movement, or counterpunching skills he would possess later in his career. Oscar's one shot power was incredible at 135, and he was a great finisher, but I don't think he'd be able to take Arguello out at 135. I say Arguello takes a close decision over 12 rounds, and a wider one over 15 rounds if not a stoppage. De La Hoya would stop Arguello at 140 though. Oscar was pretty close to unstoppable there.
I see this as a similar outcome to Arguello-Mancini, although Mancini & DLH are obviously different animals...
deal:deal Alexis isn't stopping Oscar at any weight except possibly 130, where he was prime and Oscar was a boy.
Arguello by UD if its 12 rounds if its 15 i would probably pick Alexis by KO, Oscar was known to fade late in fights that coupled with Alexis great bodywork might lead to a late round stoppage, either way Alexis wins this one.
wtf is going on in here? Arguello was awesome in his prime but he'd be cut to ribbons at 135 and above against Oscar. At 130 and below arguello wins but he'd be physically outmatched in this at 135. Oscar was bigger, faster, and the harder puncher. These are just facts.
DLH was really big for a LW....and IMO he was very skilled as a fighter. But I have to pick Arguello here.....
