Duran's Achilles was speed, and Pryor had it, but more than Duran. Alexis was not too quick, but he could land that right.. It is a pick em fight.. But Hearns hit Duran easily with rights and Alexis would hit him also. Not saying it would be Hearns vs. Duran, it would not. Hearns was a fast guy in 1984.

Not many would have the ability to put a sustained body attack on Duran. No-one worried him much at all downstairs all the way thru to 160 tho. Alexis has that long thin frame and exposed ribs going on. It would be interesting how he took it.

just as interesting how Duran took a long right. He didn't fight many guys who had them, and the one guy he did Hearns, did a number on him.

Terrible comparison. Hearns stood 6'1 with a 78" reach. He had blinding handspeed and could well be the hardest puncher to ever grace 147 and obviously hit like a truck when his hands were good at 154.

Arguello stood 5'10 and had a 72" reach. His handspeed was average. He also won his first world title at Feather and his best weight was 130. Hearns best weight was 154.

Duran was also fighting way above his peak weight against Hearns and was well past peak. The Hearns fight was also a freak happening never repeated previously nor after.

Same one eyed shyte different day.

Yea but duran was fighting hearns past his prime.also duran not in shape.(hearns would have ko a in shape duran that nite too).
Duran had good defense look at the moore leonard fights at his defense. Cholo would have slip a.a right hand all nite and ko A.A.

It was a shock. Duran was never in shape when he fought an elite like Hearns or Benitez or Ray the second time, yet he was in shape for the mediocre guys. And Duran fought at 154 as early as 1978 before Hearns,Benitez and Ray fought there. And I agree. Hearns would knockout any Duran at any weight.

Arguello would have landed that right hand. It would not have hurt him like Hearns did, but it would have been interesting. Arguello would bet the best fighter he fought at 135 and up to that point. That is a fact. It would have been a good win for Duran if he could beat him. Duran fought at 154 as early as 1978.

I remember when Hearns beat Pipino Cuevas and how he was being described as having some kind of freakish physique and looking like a LHW with all that weight concentrated mostly in his upper body and with barely any weight on his legs. Weird how Duran lasted a full competitive twelve rounds with Haggler and beat Barkley and Leonard while Hearns was stopped by those same three fighters isn't it?

With a better chin he would have been close to unstoppable.
