I can't think of anyone who would have beaten him at junitor lightweight. He lost to Pryor at junior welter, who was underrated. Pryor's only loss was a strange fight where he was winning but then went down, then did his hawk knee-bend or something to show he was ready to fight, and the referee counted him out. But Pryor was very hard to hurt.

Arguello did knock out Billy Costello, a tough junior welter, which proves he was a great pound for pound puncher.

Chavez and Mayweather would be interesting, but Arguello really was a demon at this weight.

Total gentleman and good guy. Provided so many thrills to us back in the day always exciting, you would catch his fights on Saturday on Wide world of Sports, he was a Network favorite. My brother, father, and my Moms Uncle and I would see him fight on many a Saturday telecast. The Mancini fight, the Pryor fights and finally the KO of Billy Costello also his destructions of Alfredo Escalera are some of the fights to see. He was exciting and always setting up the KO, a truly great and exciting fighter always entertaining.
