If Arquello (WBA) had remained at Featherweight for a unification fight with new WBC Champion Danny Little Red Lopez in early 1977.

    Who would have won?

(Arquello's greatest accomplishments were from Superfeather, Lightweight, & tries at Superlightweight (2) ).

With the power of Lopez you can never count him out.

But I think the relentless assault he'll face against a peak Arguello will make him wilt and fold before he can do his own damage.

This will be one of those fights were every round is close but Alexis seems to win them all.

If I remember right Lopez cut easily. Against Arguello a real bad problem to have. Arguello's punching power was off the charts, and so precise. I see Arguello as usual starting slow, Lopez getting his in early but by the 5th 6th round the class of Arguello begins to show and by the 9th/10th round a battered and badly cut Lopez is stopped on cuts or tko. Arguello was on a different level.

Arguello climbs off the deck to take control and hammer the brave but outclassed 'little Red' in an exciting bout.

With his skills, height and punching power, Alexis Arguello would absolutely destroy Danny "Little Red" Lopez, a hard-punching, very willing fighter. but with limited skills.

A few pushed Danny to the precipice then Left their chin on offer in their eagerness to come in and finish the job.. Alexis didnt have that impetuious element to his work, He kept his guard high as he stalked And Danny's Dangerous Left Hook Cum Uppercut will not find a home, he needs to close the range or have the opponent close the range for it to zero in, but because of Alexis's Streight Punch Armoury Alexis will be Landing his shots from longer range,
And Alexis Shots are not a Boxers Shots designed to gather points. Thats just a By Product, Alexis shots are designed to Build a bridge to an Impressive victory perhaps in the Last third, with a minimum of Risk he is treding his hunters path to Reward...

Danny is one of those fighters who could often pull his Fat out of the fire... Here he is up against a Thin Man with a Zippo... As the rounds go by That Zippo turns into a Blow-Torch.. Alexis by last third stoppage by the numbers..

Argeullo by late rounds stoppage. He matches up well to all Lopez's strengths, plus has a better defense.

Arguello and Lopez are my two personal heroes. Arguello wins every time. But name one fight where Little Red was cut? Cut easily?

I agree here...Arguello would stop a brave Lopez fairly early...

Haven't watched a fight of his since the late 70's. The reason I intially said if I remember right. Seemed to remember him getting cut frequently. But could be mistaken.

Lopez by KO in 4. Harder hitter. Hopeful thinking maybe on my part. Loved Little Red. He made Gatti seem boring in comparison.

Two COMPLETELY different levels here. Arguello woulda put Little Red in a box. Anyone who thinks otherwise is insane.

Nobody was more game than Little Red, Arguello was next level and wins by KO.
