If you had a kid who wanted to box but wasn't very quick, not very talented, and has average power, I think Alfonso Gomez is the perfect textbook technician for him to emulate. I was watching his fight against Ben Tackie and he showed fair footwork, good head movement and an array of punches. He can probably never beat the Hattons, the Judahs, the Cintrons or even the Castillos of the world but I think he maximized his talent and uses a very good textbook style to minimize his weaknesses and maximize his strengths.
well he KOd gatti who is a good win for a fighter like gomez, there where talks of him wanting a title fight next year when he beat tackie dont know if it will materialize though.
great post agree with it all apart from i maybe favour him to beat castillo just about about. you got a guy at welter who has fought as high as middle and he can box a bit against a legend but i feel castillo would be to small as he has been a lightweight all of his career and has gone to light welter and got blitzed by hatton so a move to welter against a big welter and someone who can actually fight a bit would maybe end in defeat very entertaining fight but i might go with gomez SD
i originally saw gomez in the contender and he started as underdog in alot of the fights. but i have to agree hes a great fighter who has maximised his potential. gatti was a good win and for his level of boxing gomez is a great technician
