I knew this would happen when I read they were going to fight a top 10 according to the wbc, then I saw gomez at 7.
Pointless fight, even mayorga would be more fun.

I was looking forward to Mayorga since I had a bet going in that one. Gomez will get pummeled and stopped in the later rounds.

Dude has earned a big fight now. Also it would be good to see Canelo get pressured by someone like Molina and see if he can look better than Lara.

How much longer is this **** going to continue?

Alvarez v M.Hatton, fighting a crap welterweight for the title? You might as well of given him the belt

Alvarez v Rhodes, fighting a Brit who is not even close to world class

Alvarez v Gomez, did you see Gomez v Cotto? This is a joke of a fight.

Alvarez - you are a world champion, fight someone world class

rhodes was legit though he was number 4 according to the ring, so that win is decent. hatton and gomez are bull**** though.

Poeple put way too much emphasis on the Cotto fight as the definitive fight to judge Gomez. Gomez came into that fight with a still broken right knuckle and coming off a serious illness in the middle of his training camp that required him to be hospitalized, and that was prime Cotto he was in there with, who was a monster. Gomez is better than anyone Canelo has faced, including Rhodes. Win or lose, Gomez will let his hands go unlike most of Canelo's opposition that are content to play the role of punching bag and there will be no doubt as to his desire to win the fight.

Canelo is facing opposition like he is still an rising star, the belt is a burden because it forces people to never be satisfied unless he steps up and faces the best of the division eventhough he is only 21.

What a joke, building a legacy out of Journeyman and B level fighters.

Canelo is the JCC of the 21st century.

So after 40+ fights are you saying Canelo someday is gonna have victories over 16 world champions, numerous top contenders, be the pound for pound best fighter of the world for several years, and have the most title fights and succesful title defenses ever?

Yes. Thats why i didnt want him to pick up a belt yet. But he picked it up and its no excuse now saying he is too young. That is one thing that is wrong with boxing. How are they gonna give a kid a title and then say well he isnt ready to defend against the top.

Titles are meant for the best and to be defended against the best. I also understand why his promoter would hand pick since he is obviously not the finished product yet but that's why you dont get him a title yet!!!
