If/when Canelo someday beats Cotto it'll be because Cotto is a midget at 154. Angulo? Lost to Cintron. Bundrage? Paper champ. Haters gonna hate and have an excuse for everyone.

Alfonso Gomez???? Pfffft, mind as well start ordering the victory champagne for Alvarez already.

It's not like people are asking for much out of this young kid. If he fights the likes of Molina or Lara, guys who are right on his level, then the fans would be perfectly satisfied.

I'm not a huge Gomez fan (in part because of him picking the bones of both Gatti and Castillo and earning an undeserved reputation as a legend slayer, and in part because I was a big Soto Karass fan and thought JSK should have been given a chance to redeem himself in a rematch due to the early finish on cuts) but he doesn't suck. He has no extraordinary qualities, but he is a rugged and solid pro who will expose any flaws holding someone back from world level.

Gomez looked good in his comeback a few weeks ago and seems to be training his ass off.

This is not a walk in the park for Alvarez, and it's even within the realm of possibility that he loses if he takes Gomez lightly.

The logical next step after "Magic" Matthew Hatton.

So now Lara and Molina are good??

A fight ago they were both bums. Now they are legit....

I guess you are only as good as your last performance.

Molina's been on a very nice streak for a few years, and Lara was a blue chip prospect until his one subpar showing against Molina himself.

Wow. You're REALLY trying to hype this mismatch up.

A world class fighter, and a "future superstar" such as Canelo should dominate and stop Gomez.

Cotto not only dominated, and stopped Gomez, but basically toyed with him.

I don't know who the **** thought they were bums, but I certainly didn't. Lara, Molina, Alvarez, and probably even K-9 Bundrage are all on the same level as fighters right now. I wouldn't mind seeing a combination of either of those guys fighting each other.

    ...Bundrage? :blood

Stopping a legless and shot to hell 2010 version of Spinks and outpointing a lazy, gun-shy & disinterested 2011 version of Powell don't amount to as high quality a run as that might have looked on paper just 3-4 years ago.

Good "names" on his resume, but in actuality those wins are only about as meaningful as Gomez's over Gatti and JLC.

Bundrage, like the rest of the names I mentioned, is a legit top ten 154 pounder just short of the elite class in that division. I stand by my opinion that a combination of any of those fighters would make for a very compelling and competitive bout.... and if YOU can find reason for hyping up ****ing Alfonso Gomez, then you can certainly find cause to get on board for a possible Alvarez - Bundrage matchup.
