I voted NO.... Ruslan would go to the body in a rematch and get his win...... BUT......what good would it do him? He'd still be outlanded. He'd still be outboxed. He'd earn a decision elsewhere or get the stoppage...... BUT......lets say Algeri takes Broner, Vargas, Allahkverdiev and Peterson over the next 18 months......imagine what a rematch then would be..... Provo wins titles at 140-147 while Algeri unifies and defends a few..... Way bigger fight later on down the line
I think a rematch makes a lot of sense. The decision was definitely debatable and the fight was competitive, as far as scorecards go. I had Provo winning the fight 114-112. According to the judges who scored it for Algieri, of the 11 rounds after the KDs in the first, Provo only won 3 out of the 11. I think that's a bit of a stretch. I don't think Algieri won 8 of the remaining 11 rounds. IMO, had Algieri not been knocked down twice in the first, he'd have pulled a draw. Anyway, I'd like to see a rematch.
I think Algieri should go for a Pacquiao fight if possible . . . . of course roach wont let that happen without giving provo a rematch first Would like to see Algieri Vs Herrera more though. Both guys outboxed Provodnikov and Herrera was hard done by in the Garcia fight so he deserves another crack at the title Herrera V Algieri Provodnikov V Rios Winners square off
Algeri would like the ring larger, and he is the champion now. When Ruslan was the champion the ring was the size he wanted it, small. I'd also like to point out, running is different from outside fighting. While running one tends to not when rounds, because they are.. running, not throwing. While one is outside fighting (Fighting from range), he likes to keep distance between himself and his opponent, those fighters tends to favor the jab and straight, with a left hook. Provo was the one not throwing punches.
:smooch Yep Both deserve a decent payday and would be curious to see how Chris can box with two eyes:rofl :smoke
ruslan pretty much said he didn't want to fight anyone like algieri. next time it gets harder for provodnikov.
No its pointless, it will be a retread, same thing will happen only Algieri will be more cautious early on. Ruslan doesn't have any more dimensions to his game. I'd rather see Ruslan fight Rios, although I do fear for their long term health it that fight happens. Ruslan lost this match easily, all he needed was a degree of an ability to slip punches, instead of being tagged by every shot Chris threw, Freddie is terrible at teaching defense it seems he would be a little more concerned by the long term effects of repeated head trauma especially since he is suffering with Parkinson's. At least now that Chavez is not working with Freddie anymore he's starting to learn to roll with or slip punches a little better. That's why I scored the 1st Chavez Vera fight for Chavez, while Chavez was hitting Vera with bombs he was slipping a lot of what Vera threw therefore making the rounds debatable. Algieri Provo on the other hand was almost a shutout Chris outlanded him 288 to 205 I believe, Ruslan didn't slip hardly anything yet Algieri rolled with most of power punches, and slipped many others.
No Algieri shut him out from rds 2-12 Next time Prov wont be able to land a luck shot and lose 120-108
