    Look Haters,

His last bout he went to war with a brutal brawler, and took a hell of a beating, aside from this stuck to his game plan and boxed. (Mental strength, discipline, determination)

Had Provodikov destroyed him it would have been him for the Pac bout.

You can say it's lopsided bout and maybe it is, but stranger things have happened in this sport.

Chris may not be from the hood, may not be ignorant and stupid but has demonstrated he can take a banging and keep coming forward, so he's educated? All that means is that he has a head on his shoulders and is a focused individual.

He is a title holder, to some of you that may not mean much, but none of you have stepped into the ring with Provodnikov, and all this "Oh well Prov not ATG Blah Blah Blah", the guy is stumpy bull that hits like a freight train.

This sport is one of the hardest and most brutal in the world, he maybe a fringe contender, but he was in his last bout, so what else is new? I want to see this bout, forgive me for rooting for the underdog. You can't tell me when Rahman hit Lewis, you weren't at the edge of your seat, or when Douglas beat Tyson.

This is sport is so much like life, you never under estimate any one's sheer determination because you are not inside their head and you do not know what drives and motivates them. Not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog.

He may show up to get paid, or he may show up to try and win.

Even if he loses, he can still win.....ask Maidana what happens when you show up to win, not just for the check.

    :bbb:happy

Algieri has heart. got up off his ass after rocky laid him out. made adjustments during the fight and won. good foot work nice jab. no power.

this guy will show up to win. period. he is a mma champion some will say that dont mean ****. but ask any champion you have to kick some ass to get there. so it means something.

you will see movement and skill in this fight and not two punching bags standing in the middle of the ring wailing on eachother like two drunks .

I like this fight from a style standpoint

Yup deserves it as in .... Wins one fight against A very limited opponent in a lower weight division than PAC and gets a mega fight

Let's not try and fool ourselves into thinking this fight ain't nothing but a product of the Cold War and a weak stable of Top Rank

Rios coming off a loss, and Bradley coming off beating a shot to **** Casamayor, weren't very impressive performances either.

Algieri beat Provo more impressively than Bradley and Herrera.

While it's obvious and I do agree that Arum doesn't exactly have any other options to consider, he already announced when Provodnikov-Algieri happened that he plans to make Provodnikov-Pacquiao if Provodnikov prevails. All fans were extremely excited and pumped about the possibility of that fight considering the excitement it could bring with both styles colliding. Now that Provodnikov lost, people are completely dismissing Algieri and his victory. Only a while ago this forum was literally packed with threads about how Provodnikov is awesome and all of that. It looks like no one wants to give Algieri any credit for his hard earned victory. Got to be fair regarding this topic and I'm hardly defending Arum here.

he could easily laid down after that beating.

he wanted it, he got it, he deserved to be here.

im not totally discounting your points either, but he did the part where he has control of.

Given Pac's last string than opponents it seems more than enough.

    My sentiments exactly

I see this like the Josesito Lopz vs. Canelo

We all know Ortiz vs. Josesito was to prepare for an Ortiz vs Canelo Showdown.

Lopez beat Ortiz, so to be fair he got the bout with Canelo

and yes we all saw how that ended but it in all fairness seems logical

Agree. He earned the position he's in and his timing was fortunate that it can lead to something like this.

I don't like his chances and doubt it will make for a fight for the ages, but his spot was gained on merit.

    It's a terrible fight.

Algieri's resume at this point is pretty ****. And despite the hype for Provo, we all knew the dude was limited... tough as ****.. but limited.
