Chris Algieri ran from Pacquiao for 12 rounds yet Manny was able to catch him and knock him down 6 times.... I think we all can agree that Chris never took a step forward, never threw with conviction, stayed on defense the entire time, fought on his back foot, fled, circled, and evaded as much as he could...never did he pose any offensive attack or threat to Pacquaio. Overall if Chris's performance in that fight was referred to as running I think most would agree with that.... Now I ask, when on May 2nd did Floyd ever perform like Chris Algieri?
give it a rest man lol Floyd proved (as many of us knew) that he is the best of his era/generation. He simply put a stamp on it a few months ago.
I just want this board to explain to me what running is. Is running how Floyd fought Pac or how Algieri fought Pac?
we all know how it's gonna go. One camp is going to say he boxed beautifully while the other is going to say he ran. We KNOW how this thread is going to end; no need to argue it any further. With that said, Most (all?) current boxers/trainers says Floyd boxed a great fight. No 'running' or any of that BS.
So why is it so difficult for this forum to learn the difference between boxing and running? Why do they struggle so much with this concept?
cuz people HATE the FUKC out of Floyd lol. Why else? there's people who appreciate his craft and there's people who don't. It's just the vocal majority here hates his guts.
He was drained vs pac fluid on the brain caused going down 6 times. Note he wasn't badly hurt and kept getting up.
No he proved how to wait and wait until a fighters past their best and fight them he's done it to all his big opponents
Just take solace in the fact that history will always judge floyd as greater than Manny and nothing these pathetic fuvkbois say or do can ever change it
Chris wasn't let out of his cage until like the 10th or 11th round, so it's hardly his fault what happened while he was in his cage. You see that he hired a competent trainer is his next fight. He was uncaged the whole time, and you didn't see any running. As far as Mayweather, he won and collected a huge paycheck. It was a good night for him.
running is a long standing joke in the business. goes way back. Basically running is BOXING, utilizing quick foot speed (keeping opponent on an angle, away from power), snapping counters, and a muffling of defense. Jack Johnson got a lot of **** for it. And the consensus, if their were forums back then, would be similar to how mayweather and others are talked about. Johnson himself, who was accosted by Corbett, said "Im just doing what you did, Jim". See the press battered johnson for the style but called Corbett a "master technician" for utilizing the same. See, its easy to cite racism back then, but hey, everyone was and was honest about it. Today we live in a more politically correct world, though I dont know how far away from 1900 we really are. do I even need to mention Ali? Basic: If you like them, its boxing, if you hate them, its running.
:happy Perfectly written. Technology changes, laws change, but human behavior is always constant. Hating Black fighters period has always been the norm in boxing. Tyson was vilified to the end of his career, now that White people no longer fear him, they love him like big ass teddy bear. You think Ronda Rousey could hug Mike Tyson in 96 and not have 80% of the fight world turn against her, but it's okay now because they hate Floyd.
