Give the kid a break. Algieri's just figuring into his purse the cost of his post-fight hospital bills.

    Exactly

Arum wanted to set up another fight in Macau in Nov and only a fighter like Algieri would go there without breaking the bank

He has nothing to gain, Algieri will never be a PPV attraction or even thought about after this fight

Win or lose, he knows Pacquaio is his one big payday in boxing. Floyd has a couple fights left and I doubt his finale will be against Algieri. Even if there are better younger fighters out there, none of them offer anywhere near the kind of money "*******s and *****s" will generate.

He has to make an entire career out of the Pacquaio opportunity. It's risky. If he took a couple fights against names and established himself, then fought Pacquaio he could demand 5x as much. On the other hand he could lose or Pacquaio could retire before he gets another chance and he gets zilch.

That's a good deal for Algeri, Guy's highest purse was 100k, you say he's the champ, yeah true that's why he's get 15x what he ever earned. Everyone saying he has other options, what other options has he that will pay half what a fight with Pacquiao will? Algeri isn't going to be a long term champion, many in fact most feel Provo beat him, if he takes another fight he may loose, why loose for 300k or their about when he can earn 1.5m more then he ever will likely earn and set himself up financially. There is also the prestige factor if he looses to Pacquiao he can come back get another big fight and earn at least a sizable purse, loose to somebody else and he's back earning 50k a fight. Unless he's an idiot he takes the fight.

1.5 mil is not a bad deal for a fight that is very winnable for him. going to macau under top ranks banner....he has to know that if he pitches a shut out...he may get a draw. a knock may get him the decision.

Pac should grow a backbone and tell Arum who he wants to fight, unless he really does want Algieri.

Hopefully Algeir priced himself out, nobody wants to see him fight Pac.
