Ali (1 thru 61; Hunsaker thru Berbick)

The #60 Holmes rating, is because Ali was in-shape at 216 lbs.
He really went into training, and had a plan to win.
Though he failed miserably.

The #61 Berbick fight he was over 230 lbs., and it was a 'money' only fight.

Trevor Berbick took it easy on him, and let him stay somewhat competitive.

While all of the American Television viewers on ABC-TV and Howard Cosell are
watching one fight.
The '3' blind hacks are watching something else.

Even Ken Norton, got up from the announcer/commentator section after
Round 10, and went to Ali's corner to encourage Muhammad Ali.

After scoring Round 1 even,
he gave Ali the next 9 Rounds (Rounds 2 thru 10).

Like I said, he gave (not scored) the rounds for Ali.

Round 9;
Clearly Jimmy Youngs round, as he lands the 4 hardest punches in the round.
Ali dances and flicks and misses, and misses and misses,
Even flails at Young with a right, and misses badly.
Young laughs at him. Ali looks pathetic.

All '3' clowns scored it for Ali.
Must have been the suites that Herbert Muhammad got them and their families before the bout, at the
Biltmore Hotel.

 

Trevor Berbick was paid extra money by Herbert Muhammad to hold off on hurting
Muhammad Ali.

If Berbick could have gome all-out, he would have stopped Ali.
In training for this bout, Ali was sparring with amateur middleweights.

It was just,,,,,what was it,,,,,,,a $1,500,000 going away gift.

Who the hell thought Muhammad Ali won,,,,,,,,,,
If Ali had gotten that decision,,,,,,,every boxing writer in the world would claim FIX.

The Alex Miteff fight was not really an impressive performance.

Ranked #47 out of 61 on the 'performance-meter'.

Cassius Clay was OK,,,,,,,but Pablo Alexis Antonio Miteff, hung with him for 6 Rounds.
After 5 Rounds, the fight scorecard was (3-2-0) for Alex Miteff.
Some even thought,,,,, possibly 4-1-0 for Alex Miteff.
He shook Clay in Round 2, with a beautiful right hand.
Miteff landed a couple of good body shots that hurt Clay, in Round 3.
Even wobbled him.

Alex Miteff was a little bigger than Clay, 210 lbs. to 188 lbs., and out-muscled him
in Rounds 1 thru 5.

Miteff was 25-10-1 (14 KO's) going into the fight.
He was 2-5-0, in his last 7-fights.
The 6' 1" 26 year-old was from Argentina.

He had been Ranked as high as #7 in 1960.

His last bout before the Cassius Clay fight.
He knocked out James McCarter (9-3-1). Sonny Listons sparring partner.
Before that, he lost 3 in a row.

He went down in Round 6, from a right-left, that didn't look particularly hard.
He got up, but Referee Don Asbury (Lousisville) called a halt at 1:45 of the Round.
Cassius Clay predicted a 6th Round Knock-out for the Lousiville bout.

Ali looked fantastic in his comeback with Jerry Quarry, earlier.

Oscar Bonavena was just flat out tough, who was not intimidated by Ali.
And, he got under Ali's skin with the 'Beep' 'Beep' chicken stuff.
Which rightfully so, was warranted.

Joe Frazier, took Ali's heart away in Round 3.
Ali still fought a good fight, against a 'much-better' fighter.

But personally, I don't believe anything that was said concerning Cassius Clay's fights back then,,,,,,,,
