At the end he says "In his heyday, he may have won... he probably would have".

Of course, no one can ever be 100% sure about who's going to win a fight. But here Ali himself is saying that Marciano probably would have beaten him.

When they asked Marciano about a fantasy fight with Ali, he said "In my prime I would have killed him".

I think Marciano would have brawled Ali for a wide decision win. Style-wise he was somewhat like Joe Frazier, but much better in all departments (especially stamina).

That's it! I'm going back to the boob gif thread on the lounge. Where they at least consider speed to be a department...and there are gifs...of boobs.

I agree with Ali. Marciano was a class act.

    Ali is being too respectful.

Everybody knows Marciano was far too slow, and against a Ali? no contest.

He had power and a granite chin but that doesn't mean anything.

Marciano would struggle to get past Foreman, Joe Fraizer and Liston let alone Ali.

Ali was beaten by Joe Frazier twice, and he admits here that Marciano was a beast and had the style, power and tenaciousness to maybe beat him. He said it himself so I'm gonna go with what Ali says instead of some random guys on the forum. And he said it could go either way basically. So I think it could go either way like he said, but it's just a fantasy match up and nobody will ever know.

How honest Ali was being remains a question mark.. Did he really feel that Marciano could beat him? Who knows... I tend to think that he was showing respect. He had already gotten a lot of **** for speaking ill of Joe Louis, and probably didn't want to make the same mistake. As for my own opinion, I don't think that Rocky had the mobility, speed or right set of skills to beat Ali. Sure he was similar in some ways to Joe Frazier, but Frazier's style utilized the left hook quite a bit more, whereas Marciano's sunday punch was the right. Left hooks were bigger problem for Ali, and Frazier had greater handspeed, more upper body movement, and higher output than the Rock did.. Top it off with the fact that Joe beat Ali after he had only fought twice in nearly 4 years, and I don't think that it bolsters a strong case for Marciano beating a peak Muhammad.
