Exactly, and that is the #1 reason why a borderline top 10 like Jack Johnson doesn't deserve to be there. Once he got the title he fought total garbage oppenents. He did the same thing all the other white champions before him did; duck dangerous black contenders.

 

It's a shame Rocky didn't get that title shot till after 40 plus fights. I feel he could have easily held the title longer had he gotten it sooner.

7-0 title fight record, 6 defenses. Not shabby for a fighter who took punishment.

Also none of these ESB haters can't deny the dudes heart. Guy had a split nose against Charles and not only did he fight on, but he knocked him out the next round. Talk about sense of urgency.

If Frazier could have success against Ali than Marciano would have SOME success as well.

 

Any video of Ali and Cosell together is more than worth watching.

 

Marciano has basically no chance against Ali.

 

Ali would knock Marciano dead in the ring.
Marciano was barely even competitive compared to Ali... much smaller, much much slower, no footwork, agility, head movement... it would be a complete joke of a fight.

 

Heck I think even todays heavies like the Klits would kill Marciano.

 

The joke is that a 46 year old Marciano made Ali sore and red around the midsection from their computer fight.

 

He did all he could. Can't fault him for that. But I still feel that competition wise and in H2H rankings, I have people over him.

I love when people cite the computer fight as some sort of standard on Ali\Marciano.
The "supercomputer" simulation in the '70's is akin to simulating an event on a computer with the processsing power of a modern day graphing calculator...
A simulation on Fight Night 2K2 on Playstation 1 would be far, far more accurate.

 

They made Ali make that tape as a condition of signing over the rights to his name for $50M. LOL, no respect for the greatest champ in boxing history.
