Ali struggled with Jones but won. He also dominated the best era of heavyweights ever, and missed fighting in what would have been his prime years 25 to 28.

    Cheers for the vid :good

Provide an example of an elite fighter that Wladimir Klitschko has beaten, considering this thread apparently disregards Ali's.

Ali - Frazier x2, Foreman (while shot) Ken Norton x2, Earnie Shavers, Sonny Liston x2, Chuvalo.

Also, provide an instance of me judging Wlad on the Sanders fight please.

    awaiting you & powerhooks reply

    Cheers

Some of the smaller heavyweights gave Ali the most trouble. As the OP stated Jones was 188. Henry Cooper was also only 188 and went within an untimely end of a round and some between rounds genius by Angelo Dundee of upsetting Ali. Foster was only 180 and although Ali toyed with him, Foster managed to be one of the few to cut Ali via his corkscrewed jab.

Really if the internet and boxing web sites had been around in the 60s, Ali would have been laugh into retirement........

Why has Wlad only been judged on his Corrie Sanders fight. He also beat the best fighters of his era.How good they are is an opinion, not a fact.

What was the ref scoring in that fight? 8-1-1, he must have been on the take.

Ali literally physically and mentally transformed from boy to man into the first Liston fight. Great historical EVT spot on your part, though. :deal :bbb :good :happy

A competitive fight. Ali wins hands down. Jones had no movement. Too slow. One dimension. But he tried. Went the distance with Ali, didn't last against chuvalo.

Ali was 21 years old in that fight, which he won. Four years younger than the Wlad that was KOed by journeyman Ross Puritty.

The old timers were indeed a bit overrated but the Ali's fight against Doug Jones alone should not used to make this generalisation.

It is kinda like 30 years from now, "old timers" like us will be talking abouthow great Floyd was or Pac was and then some 12 year old kids will post a video of Floyd getting rocked by Corley, or struggling with a 135 lbs Castillo and Pac getting KOed by some obscure Thai fighter.

But Wladimir never had to have gift decisions or a fixed fight to win a world title............

Not really nonsense, Many experts believe (and rightly so) that both of his fights with Liston were fixed...
