Ali Akhmedov vs. Ismat Eynullayev, 10 rounds @ light heavyweight

 

Round 1

Akhmedov is jabbing the body and hooking the face of Eynullayev. Akhmedov is driving Eynullayev into the ropes and dropping into a semi-crouch, leaning to his right as though draped over a clothesline. Eynullayev not taking his bait, having already tasted Akhmedov's power early and not wanting to risk an engagement of mutual risk. Eynullayev jabbing very cautiously from a tight guard and skirting the ropes in a lateral trot whenever Akhmedov opens up with a body-to-head combo. BIG clubbing right over the top by Akhmedov. Eynullayev circles away, pawing a jab into Akhmedov's upheld left forearm. Chopping right by Akhmedov pushes Eynullayev into the ropes. Eynullayev puts up a turtle shell and rushes away on his tiptoes.

Round 2

Akhmedov is banging the body with a scooping right and some hard left hooks. Now some combos up top. Eynullayev hurt. Clinch, break. Eynullayev puts out his left for a glove touch. Akhmedov obliges. They resume, stalker & prey. Eynullayev tries a tricky high to low double jab, tapping Akhmedov on the pinky side of his glove and then prodding him in the chest from mid-range. Akhmedov is approaching squared up with knees bent slightly. Akhmedov puts a jab between Eynullayev's wrists and then hammers the body with both hands. Eynullayev jogs away, sucking wind. The ref waves it off.

Now for some reason they're showing a full replay (including ring introductions) of Artur Beterbiev vs. Isidro Ranoni Prieto, from a year ago.

 

Lots of time being killed before the female title bout in the main event. Before this was nearly half an hour of hype piece & promo videos in a loop, all for M-1 Global (a Russian MMA promotion).

 

It appears we are finally just about ready for the "main event", now that everybody in the crowd in Almaty has enjoyed a lengthy gap between live fights and thoroughly cooled down. You don't want folks too excited before starting a female boxing match; somebody might have a heart attack, you know.

 

Firuza Sharipova vs. Djemilla Gontaruk, 10x2" rounds @ super featherweight

 

Firuza's hobby is falconry, apparently.

...they're doing a profile segment on her, I haven't stalked her online dating profile (but would if provided a link to it...)

 

Gontaruk is nicknamed "The Pitbull" and does indeed resemble one. To be fair, most girls in the sport would look shabby next to Sharipova, but this one makes fellow Belgian pro boxer (and p4p #1 or 2) Delfine Persoon seem worthy of a place at the arm of the late Hef.

 

Goddess Firuza is about to make Belgian waffles outta Djemilla's face.

 

Round 1

Sharipova is stepping port and turning over a left hook into Gontaruk's temple, repeatedly. Gontaruk is sawing her way forward behind a high, heavy, hacking jab. 1-2 on the brow by Sharipova. Gontaruk is getting caught on the way in by the left consistently, either at the end of a jab scoring between her eyes and making her blink or with a hook colliding with her temple. Sharipova is dropping in the occasional right hand and keeping off the ropes, where Gontaruk is determined to steamroll her (but lacking the foot speed, or the reach to get anything through offensively).

Round 2

Sharipova is keeping the jab out to deter Gontaruk from marching straight in. Gontaruk tries bowing deeply to come at her opponent like a submarine breaching the surface, but Sharipova puts her in check with a series of lashing rights landing atop the blonde-dyed skunk-stripe of the Belgian's coif.

Round 3

Sharipova is catching Gontaruk on the bridge of the nose with the 1-2, now leading with it, baiting Gontaruk into exchanges where she is doomed to be outscored and dealt more damage. Gontaruk is pumping out jabs and rights that are slower, aimed poorly, and which don't extend as far as Sharipova's punches, and not put together in a rhythmic succession. Gontaruk trying, bless her soul, but getting pelted on the face with straight punches while milking imaginary teats hovering next to either side of Sharipova's neck.
