Watch them feed Hill a dozen fat tomato can honkies on the Midwestern circuit and then introduce him on ShoBox as some kinda world class threat with a 23-1 record and just gloss over the one loss from that one time he stepped up, with the commentators having the plausible deniability (without footage) to shrug it off as "maybe a lucky punch fluke or cuts stoppage or something" - unless, that is, Akhmedov has started to generate the kind of attention he merits by then. Which he won't have.
I dig that he simul-posts dually in English and qazaqşa (meaning he is presumably - wisely - following Golovkin's footsteps in learning the former language) - both keeping in touch with his roots and remaining open to expanding his marketability here in the land of golden opportunity.
I almost kinda feel bad for Hill Jr., not only does he get his cherry popped in savage and dominant fashion, but now he faces an uphill battle the rest of his career with his reputation tarnished among diehards if he was indeed an innocent non-participant in any footage-suppressing hanky-panky on the part of his team. Most fans in the know about this, myself included, are going to have the irrepressible nagging instinct to be suspicious of him being complicit in depriving both the spirit of posterity and the budding group of potential Akhmedov fans of watching an example of Ali's early development, all to spare his ego some embarrassment. It would be comforting to believe that any suppression (if there has been any) was solely perpetrated by two bit crook promoters, but never underestimate the depths or fragility of athletes' egos or the extent to which preservation of those egos can manage to corrupt their character. Remember when LeBron James got posterized by a high school kid or something? Where he ordered his security goons to intimidate the poor teenager and his family into destroying all trace of the incident? But then somebody's cell phone video leaked anyway? Bad look for him, though it mostly blew over and was forgotten before too long. Then again, LeBron was already larger than life by then and had truckloads of fame to spare. There was also the ugly saga of Billy Dib vs. Jorge Lacierva, which had a thread on here dedicated to it a few yearss back that some may recall.
No video that I can find on his pro debut, vs. Sergey Krapshyla, a Belarusian can that went almost 4 complete rounds with a seasoned Dmitry Chudinov (but Akhmedov got rid of Krapshyla in 2 minutes flat in his debut) Akhmedov vs. Galymzhan Kanayev: This content is protected Akhmedov vs. Mindia Nozadze: This content is protected Akhmedov vs. Ruslan Rodzivic*: This content is protected Akhmedov vs. Vadzim Paleyeu*: This content is protected * - pro bout, not listed on BoxRec. Not too shabby. Akhmedov did get robbed vs Niyazymbetov, and the whole crowd was booing the decision. It's all politics in our boxing system. It's him who should have participated in the Olympics but Adilbek is the head trainer's protege. I hope Ali gets exposed to the US boxing fans. He'll be a nice addition to the talented LHW division.
Wow, yeah, he punked Niyaz. This waa definitely a robbery. Akhmedov in the blue trunks, Niyazymbetov the southpaw in red: This content is protected
Akhmedov is slated for a quick return to action next month on the undercard of Kanat Islam vs. Brandon Cook (itself a mouth-watering "someone's 0 must go" matchup) in Astana. Opponent still TBA. 8-rounder.
Actually, you know who the dude reminds me of, a little? Vitali Klitschko, with lower volume, quicker feet, and more explosive punching (and less of that overall stance awkwardness carried over from Eisenfaust's kickboxing days)
Seems to have fast hands, power and a mean left to the body. He could be moved along pretty fast I think. I would to see how he performs with someone who hits back with more conviction than in the above videos.
I'm worried about the cocky defensive swagger, baiting opponents with the hands sagging quite that low with his chin sticking that far out. Fine against the level he is facing so far but with a big puncher at even the outer fringes of world class I wonder if that could result in a scare (knockdown/wobble) if not disaster.
