Well, Nistor knocked Joshua out in ams, Romanov knocked the **** out of Wilder.
Both are world champions right now, Nistor still fighting amateur tournaments, Romanov just started his professional journey. Joshua also lost vs Whyte when he was amateur. It has nothing to do with it. Maywheather-Todorov is another good example

How about "The Dire Wolf" Ali Akhmedov or Ali "The Dire Wolf" Akhmedov because he reminds me of a Stark.

Golovkin is nuts if he attends this show in Kazakhstan a week before his fight with Cucknelo. At the very least he risks picking up some virsus during all that extra travel.

One of the best examples of this is a guy called Nick Wells who knocked out Larry Holmes twice in the same year in the amateurs, once in the 3rd, the other in the first.

Buatsi touches on the fight briefly in this interview.

Croydon boxer Joshua Buatsi has already come a long way in the early years of his boxing career, but now he is aiming even higher.

Last year’s light-heavyweight English national champion recently returned from the Bocskai Memorial Tournament in Hungary with the gold medal in the 81kg weight series.

This adds to the gold medal he won at last year’s Golden Gong tournament in Macedonia, and Buatsi is delighted with the progress he has made so far.

“I was very happy with my performances in Hungary,” said Buatsi.

“I came across some very good boxers over there. 81 is quite a heavy weight and overall I was very pleased with how I came through.

“In the final I went at my opponent straight away. I didn’t give him any time to react.

“He had a good round two when I got caught in some silly mistakes and he had the home crowd behind him but I got stuck in and came back hard.”

Now the 22-year-old is training to be selected for team GB Boxing at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, something he has long dreamt of being part of.

Buatsi faces competition from four other boxers and they will compete at upcoming World and European Championships for one spot in team GB Boxing at the Olympics.

“Right now the focus is on getting into the Great Britain boxing team to go to the Rio de Janeiro Olympics in 2016,” said Buatsi.

“It would be mean everything to me to represent Great Britain at the Olympics.

“Since I started boxing and became involved in the national set up, all I wanted to do was represent my country at international level.

“It’s going to be difficult because of how the qualification system works but I know if I work hard and stay focused I can make it,” said Buatsi.

But while he is concentrating on making it to Rio next year, Buatsi says his past achievements and plans for the future are all building blocks to one goal in his career.

“My dream is to become world champion,” he said.

“When you become a professional boxer, you want to become the best and that’s my ultimate goal in my career.”

Not only the fact that he was defeated by Steve Nelson via 3:0 scoreline and Buatsi by 3 round TKO but also the fact that he looks too open to shots and has no head movement. Guy has a power and good foot speed but fails at defence big time.

He is 22, he has time to improve, when he fought Buatsi and Nelson he was even younger, if he continues growing, he will become a true force at light heavyweight

Also on the Islam vs. Cook undercard will be Zhanilbek Alimkhanuly - who is probably every bit the must-follow prospect Akmehdov seems to be - in his sophomore pro effort at 154lbs.

Alimkhanuly was robbed of at least a bronze medal last year at the Olympics in Rio (in favor of an Uzbek whom many considered very lucky to make it as far as he did) and holds notable shutout victories in the amateurs over:

    • Jason Quigley (massive Irish star in the making, glittering amateur career, now 13-0 with 10 kayos since turning over)
    • Thomas Fowler (ace English prospect, currently 2-0 in the pros, had amateur victories over Dmytro Mytrofanov and Vijender Singh)
    • Misael Rodríguez (bronze medalist at the Olympics in 2016 repping Mexico, now signed to Richard Schaefer, currently 2-0 in the pros)
