Just got the details on this fight that just ended:

Trent Meaux vs. Ramos Cruz, 3 rounds @ flyweight

 

UD for Meaux, no surprises.

 

Ramos "The Aztec Warrior" Cruz falls to a professional record of 2-4 (8-5 overall combined pro/am) while Trent Meaux improves to 7-5 pro, 16-9-1 overall.

 

Ali Bagodinoviç Akhmedov vs. Jovany Javier Gómez Rueda, 8 rounds @ cruiserweight

 

Round 1

Gómez is coming out swinging, putting hooks into either side of the head but picked off by the backs of Akhmedov's gloves. Akhmedov is now stalking Gómez across the ring, working the body, dipping low beneath Gómez's haymakers and countering with short hooking motions into the flanks. Big left on the liver and Gómez leaps in the air before plummeting onto the canvas and rolling around in painful spasms.

KO1!!

 

Before you feel too bad for Gómez, bear in mind this was contracted for light heavyweight and while he took it on relatively short notice he accepted it around the end of last month and so he still had about two weeks to make the weight...and yet came in @ 188lbs.

For a brief second the way Gómez was storming the gates I thought maybe it was going to be a repeat of Akhmedov's fellow unbeaten prospect Christian M'Billi receiving an unexpectedly stiff test from Luis Fernando Piña earlier today ...but, no.
