This was my card, for what it's worth, scored on NY's rounds basis. Round 1: Ali Round 2: Ali Round 3: Even Round 4: Ali Round 5: Frazier Round 6: Frazier Round 7: Even Round 8: Frazier Round 9: Ali Round 10: Ali Round 11: Frazier Round 12: Frazier Round 13: Frazier Round 14: Ali Round 15: Frazier Total: 7-6-2 Frazier
I'm sure you're not the ONLY person who thinks Ali won that fight. Some of those rounds were difficult to score, and scoring by rounds negates the extra point Frazier may have gained for the knockdown in round 15.
Yeah as I've stated, if I had to give the fight to anyone using the 10 point must scoring method, I'd give it to Frazier but since the RBR scoring method was used, I think Ali narrowly won it.
I scored it in 2016 and can check when I´m at that computer. I had that bout a draw after round 12. Without clowing, Ali indeed might have won a 12 rounder. But Ali didn´t win any round afterwards and lost round 15 big. So yes, at 10 point must he´s 4 points behind Frazier. Thats not close. Alot of Frazier beating him was Ali fighting pretty dumb (clowing, arrogantly staying in front of him etc.) and just not continuing with what he did before round 13 (stamina). For some reason, that single fight makes Frazier an H2H artist at fantasy fights for whatever style out there In my world, the version from 65-67 punishes this guy.
@PhillyPhan69 sounds like one that might be worth scoring even if almost everyone scores it for Frazier. It would be done via RBR of coruse.
Ali had moments of brilliance and in many ways it was his greatest fight because he had absolutely no business being in that ring against a prime Frazier .. his layoff was huge .. too fast a match after two fast tune ups .. Quarry ended early on a cut and he looked very rusty and flat out different vs Bonavena .. the last minute KO erased a lot of the facts ... for chin to go such a competitive 15 w that Frazier was an amazing performance but he did lose.
Frazier won this fight any way you want to score it. Crystal clear win for Joe and he earned it. Rewatched the 2nd fight last year and gave it to Joe by 2 rounds.
