You don't get in the game to play second to any fighter. If he feels he is better than Ali then thats great. You don't think Shane at one point said "I am going to be the best that has ever touched a pair of boxing gloves." Hell yeah until he got his ass kicked. Until somebody beats Mayweather he needs to keep telling people that he is the best. I would!! Ali said it after he won his first title.

 

yeah but Ali had just beaten Sonny Liston, who both Joe Louis and Beau Jack and many others, said before the fight that Liston was the greatest heavyweight of all time,

Thats the difference between Ali and Floyd

 

also Ali was only 22 when he won that fight, Floyds 33 and still has'nt a win better than that

 

He wasn't claiming he had the better record or had fought tougher opposition. He was claiming that he was a more skilled boxer. Still dumb but not the same thing.
