This is the dumbest thing I've seen on the forum in a while. Ali weighed ABOVE the cruiser limit, Marciano weighed far below the cruiser limit.

Also Marciano's reach was 68 not 73. Ali's was 78, so he'd be giving up 10 inches of reach. This seriously has to be the dumbest topic in a while, I think you recognize that which is why you're getting so defensive.

I don't get the point of your Fury comparison is. Marciano would have absolutely no chance at all against the SHW of this generation. he's just far too small. You said he'd give up 30 pounds to ali, well he'd be giving 70+ pounds and 16 inches of reach to Fury. As for Louis he'd have a better chance than Marciano due to size, but I'd favor Ali's speed, movement, and skill over Louis against the SHW like Klitschikos, Joshua, Lewis etc.

 

So it wasn't just me, he did word the question all F'd up. But no, you should have clicked yes because you favour ANY heavyweight over him (like any sensible person would)

He could have made 200 and still performed well with modern methods for sure. But thats just my opinion. All i know is a boxer today who weighed around 210-215 in shape and needed to make 200 for a day before weigh in it would be very possible for him to make that weight and fight the next day.

 

Actually forget cruiser. Rocky would have been a LHW in this era. Rocky wasn't killing himself to make 185. He'd have a way better advantage. Seriously saying since Rocky would be a LHW/Cruiser in this era, Ali would be too is the dumbest **** I've heard on this forum in ages. Again your comparison of Fury/Ali and Marciano/Ali is extremely stupid and pointless. You're just proving my point further. If you think Fury has a good size/reach advantage Ali, compare that to Marciano lmfao. He's a foot taller, has a 16 inch reach advantage, and weighs over 70 pounds more. Also let's be real most of Rocky's wins were ATGS nearly 40 or past 40. We don't know how his power translates against prime ATG opposition, especially those who are 60+ pounds heavier.

 

That's true. Rocky might have been a SMW or LHW in this era.

 

If it is Ali you are talking about boiling down to 200, I read a post earlier today where a guy claimed Ali was only a single inch shorter than Anthony Joshua

the heights are really exaggerated in the HW division, like in the NBA.
I certainly dont remember people that tall but at the same time athletic before in the HW division. Maybe these guys really "only" are 6'3-6'5" just like lennox lewis, golota, ruddock, tucker, bruno and bowe
