Both my favorite heavyweights to watch or read about — ‘The Greatest’ or ‘The Easton Assassin’, who do you feel has the better chance against the modern behemoth heavyweight champions (Fury, Klits, Bowe, Lennox, etc.) in a H2H sense? You can weigh up both versions of Ali (60s and 70s) if you want. As much as size does matter especially with enough skill, let's remember that small heavyweights like Tyson and Holyfield did well enough in the modern era to be considered ATGs.
Holmes would have beat any modern super heavy, I actually think the heavy right now that would have given him most problems would have been Usyk, who ironically has the same reach as Ali who would have struggled due that 78inch reach v long armed modern heavies more than Holmes who had that 81 inch reach of a jab, no way could AJ match Holmes jab with his 82 inch reach at all, Usyk uses better angles than Ali who was easy to hit with hooks.
Usyk might actually have ended up stopped in the mid to later rounds by prime Larry; however, I think he would have been particularly tricky for post-1983 Holmes...more difficult than Witherspoon or Williams. Wilder and Joshua would have been stopped in the later rounds, Ruiz profoundly UD'd. 69s Ali would have UD'd them all, 1970-1974 Ali would have stopped Wilder and Joshua in the middle rounds. Ruiz ha ha.
