Ali-Holmes outcome without thyolar

Ali was indeed too light at 218 pounds for Holmes (211) in 1980............. BUT! NO!! It wouldn't have mattered had Ali weighed a better 224 pounds.... Ali was ill with Parkinson's disease as early as 1978..... It was not proven until 1984, but that doesn't matter....... Ali was in ill health by 1980, and his passing of the physical exam was ****ing shameful by Las Vegas......... Ali had poor balance and slurred speech by '80......... Christ, even Ray Charles saw that.............. Peace.........

Holmes beats the hell out of any 1980 version of Ali.

 

I tend to agree with what you say, but i do think the fight would have been a little more competitive and Ali might have even lasted the distance. Ali didnt look that bad against Berbick (although obviously he was nothing compared to his prime). I have heard reports that Ali was showing signs of Parkinsons even earlier than 1978, when he would sit in the gym.

 

Sad....but the head is not designed to take massive blows from Foreman, Frazier, Norton, & Shavers over & over.

 

Wouldn't have mattered if he was tweaking his thyroid to lose weight or not, Holmes wasn't going to lose to that Ali, and I'm imagining he'd be damned if he wouldn't fight like he was possessed by the devil against any Ali.

Holmes may have beaten Tyson but lets not kid ourselves that it would not have been dangerous and competitive.

 

I tend to think the '88 Tyson would have beaten any version of Holmes.

There's only two fighters who I think at thier best would have been a 50/50 chance with Tyson;

Muhammad Ali and (reluctantly) Lennox Lewis.

 

Holmes wins easy with or without Thyloar. The truth is Ali worked hard to get into shape for the Holmes match. It did not matter. He was too old and too slow for this match, and Holmes was too good and too young.

I think Holmes could have beaten Ali as early as 1977, but that is a different thread.

 

I doubt that. I don't see Holmes ever easily beating Mike Tyson.

Okay, Okay.... Perhaps not so easily, but Holmes of '80 schools Tyson of '88 in a Time Machine.......... Holmes was too fast and savy with his movement and pumping jab....:yep

Holmes was not faster then Tyson and moving and jabbing was not the best tactic against Tyson guys who moved and jabbed gave him momentum guys who punched and then clinched frustated Tyson and stopped him from landing (Douglas Holyfield in Tyson vs Holyfield 1)

Best Tyson vs best Holmes 50-50 fight.
