Have u noticed Roger Mayweather in the picture? Hes the dude in between the 2 nazis in the white uniforms, hes a few rows behind them
Whats with all those people with white hoods on,,,,,,,,,, in the way back. There not who I think they are,,,,,,,,are they?
You dont find it suspicious that the mafia's involvement with boxing diminished instantly with Ali-Liston 1? You hear about all of these scandals with Lamotta, Basilio, all of these people, and then suddenly you hear nothing of the mafia. I got my information from my pops who has been good friends with Ali since right after his last fight. They were close, and I was too young to remember, but he would have dinner at our house all the time. We even had a key to each other houses. The info is as reliable as Ali's word. But before the first Liston fight, the mob had met with Ali and told him to take a dive, "or else". Ali brought back Herbert Muhammad, who told the mob that if they ever mess with Ali again, the NOI (who was backed by the govt at the time) would go after them. Some exact quotes were "We have 50 people for every one person you have." "If he so much as slips on the sidewalk and breaks his knee, we will assume you had something to do with it, and we will go after you." The boxing game had been cleaned up that very day. I've heard a lot of great stories. I can tell you, that Ali is the real thing, and is even better of a person than he is portrayed as.
REZ, Good stuff,,,,,,,,but I do believe the Sonny Liston mystery is true, and alot more 'cloak and dagger' stuff on deep background than anyone really knows.
Yes this is true, but what is also true is that '****s' laughed with Ali when he was unfairly calling Joe an uncle tom etc....which caused Joe and his family much heartache. As such they were egging Ali on and making this mokery acceptable, are they not ****s too? the deferance with me is that I am more truthful and upfront.
JT, It was fairly simple. The fight in Lewiston, Maine,,,,,,which had been postponed once, and moved to a new location (from Boston to Lewiston, 17=days earlier) had to be done. 1) The closed circuit contracts would have expired. 2) The bout was not insured for losses 3) I-C-P would have been sued, costing them a bundle. 4) The fighters expenses were not covered. 5) The fight went through, despite both Sonny Liston and Muhammad Ali not really wanting it. 6) It had to go through for the monies to be settled.
If you look over the left shoulder of the center Nazi, you can also see a young Don King, sitting a few rows back. Still had nice hair!!!
No one was egging Ali on, they probably just enjoyed the drama if anything. Regardless an Uncle Tom isn't really much of an insult and compared to Ali, Joe was an Uncle Tom pretty much. An insult is hardly the same as having a debalitating illness
